Motorola Defy XT535 having issues with the SD card?

I recently bought the Moto Defy XT535.However as soon as I inserted my Class 6 16GB SD card, it started giving problems. Firstly, phone is unable to take or view any photos and gives error "SD card unmounted or not present!". However I was still able to play songs on it. Then I was not able to move any applications to my SD card. One more problem I faced is, manual said it had 1GB internal memory, but on checking the memory on phone, it showed around 400MB only. I thought it was some SD card issue, so now I tried another Class 4 8GB SD card. And more problems occurred. Now I have the same issue I had with my Class 6 16GB card, plus I am unable to play songs on my phone. My music player keeps skipping the songs randomly. I tried with Class 2 2GB SD card as well with same issue. Now all my SD cards are corrupted and not readable on my computer either or any other phones. Is this a manufacturing defect or am I doing anything wrong with the device? P.S.: I was a Blackberry use. Not familiar with Android.

yes there is a possible solution to your problem....there seems to be a problem with your card....and it doesn`t look like you can get your data back from it you will have to format your memory card....connect your card to a computer through a memory card reader by also using your micro card`s adaptor and then format it from your computer......hope this helps.....please vote us to help you better

Faint volunm

  1. Have you adjusted volume in call?
  2. Have you cleaned out the earpiece area?
  3. Have you tried a Bluetooth or wired headset?
  4. If you have and it sounds better then you could have issue with earpiece.

How big of a memory card can you put in a motorla defy

Well, I have a genuine Kingston 32GB class 4 microSDHC card inserted on my Defy, and it is working just fine.
Be careful with the your card choice, though. I had lots of problems with a cheap 32GB card I bought on eBay. It was unable to hold data beyond 2GB, both on my phone and computer.
Oh, I've read on the internet that some class 10 cards, although genuine, might show some issues with the Defy..
Just my 2 cents...

How can i import contacts from another phone using no internet and no sim. i have all my contacts saved on my memory card. My old phone is HTC Wildfire and the new one is Motorola defy.

You see, I'm running Gingerbread 2.3.4 on my Defy for some time now, and I'm sorry for not being able to remember how it is done under Eclair or Froyo, but in Gingerbread, the Contacts application is a tab on the dialer one. Anyway, in the Contacts tab, if I go to 'Menu > Manage contacts', there are settings for exporting/importing contacts to/from the SD card. When exporting, a vcf file is generated in the SD card. When importing, a vcf is searched. So, for compatibility matters, I think you should use the Wildfire to export all your contacts, remove the SD card from the Wildfire, insert it into the Defy, and import your contacts from that file.
Hope it works for you.
Anyway, please, let me know if I can help you out any further.
Regards, Carlos

The phone came with a 2GB microSD card however i've just bought an 8GB one to expand storage on the phone. i cant seem to remove the 2GB SD card. How do i remove it so i can put the new SD card in?

To remove the micro SD card push the micro SD card in further, it will click and then pop out.
To insert the new micro SD card insert it into the phone and push it in until it clicks in.
