Hi
Most paper shredders have thermal overload switches, or
fuses in the motor. The motors are generally rated for
intermittant duty, something like 1 minute on, 15 minutes
off. If you overheated the unit, it is quite possible the
thermal fuse blew, and now your motor is no more. The easiest
way to test for this is to find the wires on the motor that
connect to the power line when the power switch is on, and
measure them with an ohmmeter. They should be in the 10's
of ohms if this is a small shredder. They definitely shouldn't
be an open circuit.

thermal Overload Protection is a feature in some shredders that helps to prevent the shredder from overheating.
Most shredders cannot shred continuously, and require a certain amount of time for the motor to cool off before beginning another shredding cycle.
Thermal overload protection protects your shredder and prevents the motor from burning out. This feature will shut down the shredder and force the cool down period.

Look for the screw at the side and you can simply open the case covering the teeth. Initially, you can use a paint brush or any brush to clean the teeth.

You can take it apart and Clean them Manually, But, Beware it will void the Warranty. Could also use Tweezers or Forceps

How to restore shredding capacity?

Access the mechanism and spend some time picking out all the bits of paper jammed in it.

Indicates jam. Why won't it move forward or reverse?

Some material that can't be shredded is lodged in the mechanism. The drive motor may have sensed thermal overload and stopped working either permanently or until the shredder is unclogged. Obviously, you will have to get access to the grinding mechanism and (with power disconnected) remove the jamming material bit by bit.

Spins and will not shred

Not real familiar with your particular shredder but most shredders have plastic gears that will break teeth so that you do not destroy the motor when a jam happens. My guess is that is what happened to yours. You can usually contact the manufacturer or a dealer to see if new gears are available. You will need your model and maybe your serial number when you call.

How do I unclog my shredder? The papers keep getting stuck in the teeth and the shredder keeps stopping. I've tried pulling it out with my hands but it's not working. Bummer!

Have you ever "oiled" the cutting blades...all cross-cut shredders should be oiled regularly otherwise they clog up with the paper and debris generated by the cutting of the paper...the oil helps feed this material on thro into the shredding bin.

Pour some shredder oil in the throat where you normally insert the paper...put some shredder oil directly onto 1 sheet of paper and try shredding 1 sheet. If it wont even shred 1 sheet I would ask is the shredder running???

Shredding paper partially

Your cutters have spread apart this could be caused by overloading machine to many times or something may have cracked internally that held them in place.
