Outdoor challenge mat won't connect

I have turned the wii off, connected the mat, turned the wii back on and inserted the disc. The disc reads, but as the kids go into the game it says it cannot detect the mat. Has anybody come across this ? and is there a fix for this ? Could the wii unit be broken or need resetting.

Thx.

SOURCE: wii can"t read disc

If Wii gives can't read disc, so first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. SOURCE: kids stuck multiple discs in wii console. Anybody

Hi!

  1. Disconnect the drive.
  2. Open up the screws.
  3. You will now be able to see the white plastic mechanism on your right side and the wheel connected to the motor.
  4. Turn the wheel towards the back side of the drive while pushing the half inch square plastic piece towards the left.
  5. You will see the disc coming out while you are turning the wheel.
Please ask for further clarifications.

Thanks

Its not working it says can not read disc

Try cleaning off the disc with a cotton swab and some alcohol. Let it dry before inserting the disc back into the Wii

You could also be getting that error because the disc is insert in the wrong direction. Try turning it around,

How do we connect the dance mat to the Wii console for DDR 3?

How do I connect the mat to the Wii™?

If your Wii™ is standing upright with the power button facing you at the top left, the top skinny side of the Wii™ that points up towards the ceiling contains the flaps. Lift the flap up, like how you would open a book, on the top of the console. You will find the ports under this flap. Plug your mat into the port that is the closest to where you would stick in the disc.
If your Wii™is laying flat horizontal, with the disc slot going left and right, and the power button facing you at the bottom left corner, the left skinny side of the Wii™that faces towards the left contains the flaps. Flip the flap down towards the left and you should see the 4 ports. Plug your dance mat into the port that is closest to the front of your Wii™ where you would stick in the disc.
Other steps to make sure you have tried:
Make sure that your Wii™ is turned off before plugging in your mat.
Also, make sure the connection is secure to your console.
Then with the game in the Wii™, turn on your console.
The mat should be recognized at that point.

Ddr mat not working properly

Try making sure that the DDR mat is plugged into the FIRST controller jack (there are 4). That is the only way that it is associated with controller 1. If you plug it in any of the other controller jacks, you will be able to use the mat with instructions, configuration, etc., but not to dance. Hope this is your problem! -GeoffM

on the top of your wii console is a small door. if you open it there are four spots that you can plug your mats into. be sure to look at the number of dots to correspond with the player number.
