Question about Toyota Sewing Machines

How can I slow down my Toyota sewing machine?

My Toyota sewing machine - speed wise - is all or nothing. I've had a look for switches or buttons but there's nothing, on either the machine or foot control! How can I slow it down?

Welcome to the wonderful world of industrial type machines. It sounds like your machine has a clutch motor... which is designed for full on production work. Look on the motor itself for a speed setting switch it might be marked something like 1425 - 1750. or H or L. That's it... you get to sew fast or faster.

Now... If you want to sew more like a home machine. Buy a smart servo motor from Cobra Steve (google his name) Tell him Sylvia sent you and that you want one with the needle position-er if possible. Be sure to tell him the application and what you are sewing. He modifies his smart servos so they can run just like a home machine. (no one else does this)

I don't know the costs of just servo motors but I'm sure Steve will give you a fair deal.

SOURCE: foot control has no power

I've just fixed this problem by replacingthe main capacitor in the foot pedal. I have a Bernina 830. I needed a soldering iron, and I had to buy the right capacitor, but it fixed this exact problem. Btw, a few months ago this problem initially appeared (on my machine) as an issue where the speed was either zero, or full speed). After a white it wouldn't work at all.

Speed control

Welcome to the world of industrial machines. As you are discovering they are not like a home machine. Typically these machines have either a clutch motor or if you are lucky a servo motor.

If you have a clutch motor there is typically a knob that allows you to slow it down. Or sometimes the pully needs to be replaced to "step down the speed"

A digital servo motor is a bit more complicated and you'll need to find some instruction on how to use it. But they can be easier to control. I've provided a video of the servo motor I have and recommend. (I sew heavy leather)

I have 1 pdf somewhere for a smart servo motor that might help. If yours is a servo, be careful because I got mine to run backwards once. lol Good luck

Brothers sewing machine

first check the outlet to see if it works
next check to make sure the power cord is plugged into the machine
correctly.
if you've done the above things, & you push the switch to turn the machine on & it still won't come on, then the machine needs to be
checked.
