Re: No picture on xbox still
Red ring is not the only problem with Microsoft Xbox 360. This amazing
device also has some more common problems like Audio , video
problem, disc read error etc. Microsoft is providing extended warranty
only for red ring problem. Means you will have to spend some money to
get this problem repaired also if you plan to send your xbox to
Microsoft, you will have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get back your
favourite Xbox. There is one more option in the form of DIY guide, this guide explains solving No Video problem with step by step instruction, so any novice can fix this problem

The GPU (graphics processing unit) is causing problems with the Xbox. If this happens again (which it will) and the unit is under 3 years old then Microsoft will repair it for free or give you a new Xbox.
If the Xbox is over 3 years old then you may have to modify the X-clamps to stop this from happening again. That means opening the Xbox up or forcing the unit to overheat. This is a common problem with Xbox's.
There are plenty of youtube tutorials out there which will show you how to do this. As a warning to you the so called "towel trick" will damage the Xbox even more.
I must stress though that if it is under 3 years old sent it back to Microsoft!!!
Bad very bad.
It's bad solder connections under the G.P.U.
Trust me I know, I re-flow about 2-3 a day .
but the units are normally about 2 1/2 -3 years old
and 60% are Microsoft reworks. you can tell this by
a black dot on the safety seal .
You have 2 options Fix it you self , if done right you should
get 2-9 months sometimes more.
Or have a shop re-flow the G.P.U. . cost 80.00 or so.
you should get 3-12 month hard to say with these unit.
This is due to overheating and the mainboard warps, because of this the lead free solder cracks and causes exactly the problems you are describing. the machine is quite an old one and this is a common fault, we can get the machine back to normal again for you for £40 which includes return delivery.
We reflow the mainboard which in turn re-seats all of the lead free solder recifying any problems. We add heat conducting pads to the memory chips and we totally replace the X-clamps because the design is a flawed one.
Hi This Is Called The Ring Of Death Microsoft have Extended the warranty to 3years on xbox 360 that do this you will have the contact them to get it repaired but if its less than 1 year old and you have a receipt take it back to the shop you bought it from and they should replace it i have replaced my xbox360 6 times
Check the A/V to TV lead is connected properly. or if you can borrow another lead to test and eliminate the lead problem.
also try the console and lead on another A/V socket on the same or different TV Set.
if non of the above works. it could be that your graphics chip has fried up.
hope this is a help for you.
mike @ compurepair.
Yes they do...so much so that if you've encountered the "red ring of death" your warranty is extended from one year to THREE years.
The problems lies in the dvd player part of the system. If your Xbox is less than a year old and you have your proof of purchace you can call Microsoft for free repairs. If you've ever seen 4 red lights on the front of your Xbox, call Microsoft (1-800-4MY-XBOX) and they will repair it under their 3 year extended warranty.
Also...the Xbox is known for scratching disks placed in the console. If this has happened to any game you can look on Xbox live to download a replacement of the game that was damaged.
