Question about Packard Bell Computers & Internet
I dont have a disk to get it going again
Well Ian, it clearly shows that for the time being your laptop doesn't have any operating system. So, the first thing your must do is either purchase an operating system or you can download LINUX (a free operating system) and even its CDs can be ordered at a very low price.
One of the most easiest to use and best distros of LINUX for now is UBUNTU. You can get a UBUNTU CD quite easily for the Canonical Store. Get it from here http://shop.canonical.com/product_info.php?products_id=1027 .
Once you have that with you or any other flavor of LINUX or any other O/S simply go to BIOS of your computer, generally comes up with the following key combination:
your can change but these are the most common ones. Then find something like BOOT ORDER or BOOT SEQUENCE and then make your CD/DVD as your First Boot Device. Insert the O/S disc and restart your computer, Voila, you shall start running the setup in no time. Once the setup is finished you can simply take out the DVD/CD and enjoy your laptop. :-)

Testimonial: "Thank you very much will try "
Download any Live CD and eithe burn it on a Disk , burn it as an ISO Image with any burner or if this machine has not got a disk player then attach an external Player/burner, or with Unetbotin bring the ISO on to a USB stick. You may have to change the boot sequence on the Laptop, when you turn it on then press the delete key to enter the bios then you can change to boot order , (where the system looks for a start system). The advantages of the live cd is that they are free any and you can find the system that pleases you th most and can then install it from the cd . Otherwise you must purchase an Windows system disk and install it.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I sometimes have the same problem and usually it's because the router somehow looses connection with the laptop. You may require a stronger router/different kind of router. Have you tried to move the location of your router first to see if that could be one of the problems ?
Hope this works for you.

If you cannot see the speaker icon in the taskbar, click on Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices and tick place icon in the taskbar. That's if a driver has been installed for your sound device which is a creative sounblaster I think.
