Question about Ovens

Open Question

I have a defy Gemini double gourmet oven. It's about 4 years old. Just recently the bottom oven stopped working, that includes all the knobs and timer and relevent switches on the board. The only

All the switches on the board related to the bottom oven does not work at all. My old Defy Gemini had the fuses in front under the control panel which was easy to change. I see screws in the same position on my new oven but not sure if they contain fuses. Defy wants to charge me R 500.00 just for a call out. If it is a fuse problem, I would save a lot of money that I actually do not have at the moment

SOURCE: Oven blows main switch

There is a short circuit between the lower oven control and the lower element.
Disconnect the lower element. Put electrical tape on the loose terminals and turn the lower oven on.
If it does not blow, replace the lower element with a new element.
If it does blow, Check the wiring to the lower element for continuity to the frame of the range.
If you get continuity replace the damaged wire..
Finally, check the control knob switch for continuity to ground on the frame of the oven.

SOURCE: The fan and oven light in bottom oven works but not heat.

The heating element is the likely culprit as they burn out and go open
circuit..(ie ...disconnected and will not heat up )
If you can use a multi-meter , then the element can be tested using the resistance range (with the oven SWITCHED OFF )

My defy gemini gourmet oven is too hot! when i bake, my cake his burnt pitch black on top and is raw on the inside... please help

I don't know about that particular over but when that is your result, it is usually because the oven is on Broil (Top burner is on, used for steaks, ribs, things like that) instead of bake (Bottom burner is on with a more distributed heat for baking since the rack isn't too close to the heating element)
Recheck your settings :)

I have a defy Gemini gourmet double oven. The top oven works but no light. The bottom oven there is nothing not even the clock is working. What could be wrong and how do I fix it?

First check and make sure you are not in Sabbath mode in the manual. if you are not in that mode then most likely your oven went over temp and the thermal fuse shorted out. You would need the fuse and most likely a temp sensor because it went over temp. I am not there to do tests but that is what is most likely.

I bought a house with a Defy Gemini Petite Chef oven but it is not working. The oven flicker on Auto. How can I delete the Auto?

Most models won't work when on Auto. There are push buttons under the clock and one has a picture of a hand (Like a cop holding up his hand to say "Stop"). From left to right numbering the buttons 1-6, this is button 4 on your appliance. Press this button and it should go back to manual mode and allow you to use the oven.
You can download a manual for this appliance from here:

Or google " Gemini Petite Chef manual " and the first hit has the link

I just had a model 976-4CX put in...I have no manual...I'm trying to find one. I thought I had a problem with the element, dial or thermostat. The bottom worked, but the top stopped working. There are 2 timers with dials next to the clock labeled Start and Stop, and Push for Manual. Come to find out my problem was solved by adjusting the Start and Stop dials and/or pushing in for manual!?!
If I had a manual I'd know how these timers worked.
