So you reinstalled the operating system ? then returned to set faisafe or optimised defaults

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or the F2 key

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the using arrow key scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

note this will erase you operating system you will have to have an operating system disk to load it onto you hard drive or create a partition to load another operating system

(note after you have loaded the operating system you should go back and change the first boot device to your failsafe or optimized defaults)
after windows has loaded

your computer will automatically restart it might restart 2 times one to finish the installation
the next will be because the operating system is loaded and will boot from your cd

during the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load

failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
otherwise it will keep booting from the cd /dvd drive

hope this helps

one bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

I purchased a new hard drive and am attempting to load window but the hard drive doesnt seem to be detected. when i put the old hard drive back it boots... but with the new hard drive i get a curser in the...

Plug in the new drive. Be sure to check the jumper setting is set as "Master" The manual should explain this. Most drives are set to this by default. Before windows boots Press either F8, F7 or F12. This should get you to the BIOS screen of your motherboard. From there your should be able to navigate to setup the drive. The screens are pretty easy.

My gateway MT6821 is down, I'm trying to restore but when I try a repair it says on problem signature 06 "NoHardDrive". What does that mean? I can't reinstall windows because there isn't a drive to install...

ok what that is saying is the hard drive is not being reconized by the bios. you will need to go into the bios by hitting either F1 or F2 or delete . turn off computer as soon as you see it coming on hit one of the keys i mentioned. it should say entering setup.
in setup you will need to load the default settings..
look at the botom or left hand upper corner. sometimes it will be across the top. look for load default settings . select load default settings save and exit. if this fails you may need to replace the harddrive also known as ( HARD disk or HDD.

In most cases old HDD are not recognised by new systems.
Try installing them (if you have the original setup discs) just as you did on your old HDD
