Re: sound stills and video breaks
I can not find a website that supports this product but you can buy it new for $11.00 now. I would suggest that you purchase a new Vista compatable PCI soundcard like soundblaster, for example. They are even available at walmart but you might find a really good deal on one on the internet from like newegg.com.
I am guessing that their is no VISTA driver for this old soundcard and that might be why all the trouble that you are having .
As far as speeding up your computer, Add RAM is the commmon answer but do a search on turning off services on VISTA. That wil help a lot they say.

First right click my computer then click properties then hardware then device manager and expand the sound video and game controller and see if the driver is marked with yellow question mark or marked with red X then you will have to reload the drivers and if you dont see any audio drivers then switch of the computer press del and enter bios and enable the audio device
The problem that you are facing is a grave issue as it is related to internet browser itself. All you will have to remember the video website that you have been through recently and check where you have muted the sound. The situation that you are in currently is dealt like this only as muting sound on a website effects all other video or audio websites on your internet browser. However you can try resetting internet browser to manufacturer's default to check it further. Resetting Internet Explorer is easy. Open Internet Explorer > Tools Menu> Internet Options> Advanced tab> Reset.
If you are using Firefox, open Start Menu>Run and then type "firefox -safe-mode" without quotes and reset firefox completely.
Hope that resolved your issue.
Does this happen only when viewing online audio/video, as opposed to inserting a music-CD into your CD-drive, and using Windows Media Player to play the music?
If so, then how fast is your Internet connection?
It probably is too slow to download and play at the same time.
So, when you click on a YouTube video, click "pause",
and let the download proceed for a minute or two,
and then click "play", to play what has been downloaded.
Pls enable the sound device from System BIOS ,for this re-start the system and press Del. or F2 button on POST .After that select sound controller and select enable mode. After that login through administrator and install the compatible sound driver from the Motherboard CD of from internet .
Try uninstalling the driver and restart pc, goto start, control panel, (if you haven't already, chainge it over to classic view) double click on "system" click on the tap "hardware" click on device manager, go to sound, vido and game controllers, right click on your audio divers, click delete, restart pc to reinstall the drivers, please let me know if this doesn't work we will go a differant direction.
Try going into the control panel - Sounds. Find the different items that can have sounds. There you can select a sound and play it. Do you hear it? If so, it's not the computer or card setup. If you don't hear any of the sounds there, it's probably the sound card (either hardware or drivers). The CD plays through the soundcard so it's not likely the hardware.
As to the keyboard control, that's likely HP specific drivers that are missing or wrong. If you reinstalled Windows on this machine - you may not have all the original drivers that came with the machine, especially if you downloaded them from HP support. Sometimes those "special" functions are hard to find.
Hello vatsala, Try downloading and installing the latest sound drive available for your motherboard. Here is the link. http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D845GVSR/ If that doesn’t work, try using another set of speakers to make sure it’s not your speakers that are bad and if that doesn't work, you may have a bad sound card and will need to put in new sound card. Sincerely, Agent Xiong
