Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

Grinding noise during the drain cycle and intermittent draining

Hi, I have a Whirlpool Duet front load washer and it makes a grinding noise during the drain cycle and it won't drain the water out. If by chance, which sometimes happens, it drains then the noise is still there. If it is not going to drain than it gives me an F02 error code. Any help would be appreciated, especially with 3 kids to do laundry for and no service help available until next week.

Hi, Well sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you will need a new pump fitted to this! You could have a go yourself but it can be a bit of a pain! I would be willing to tell you in detail on how to do it if you want to get a pump to fit?
Hope this helps?

F/02 Long Drain
If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and "F/02" is flashed.
NOTE: After 4 minutes the "Sud" error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F02 error code will be displayed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.
  • Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
  • Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
  • Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
  • If the above does not correct the problem, replace the pump.

Our washer is making a grinding noise when the washer drains and when the tub spins any ideas what it might be. Washer seems to work fine just making that noise during a drain and spin cycle.

This sounds like you may have something caught in the drain pump. One of the most common items to get stuck in there is a woman's bra wire. Check it out.

The drain pump of my whirlpool duet washer makes a ticking noise

Hi, Remove your strainer cover, located in the kick panel at the front, and use a mirror and flashlight to see up into the pump cavity. It sounds like there is enough debris in the strainer and pump to explain your problem. Remove any foreign material you find.

Loud grinding noise only during the spin cycle.

Try looking at the solution for loud noise during spin with gray water in drain. This also sounds like the bearings on the shaft supporting the stainless steel drum, in the aft half of the outer drum.

Whirlpool Duet 9100 starts cycle then stops & wont drain

F2 code is a drain issue. If you are not using he detergent you can cause slow draining and then you will get the code. Try using less detergent. Also, try disconnecting the power to the washer to reset controls.

Whirlpool Duet Washer Making Loud Grinding Noise

not nesseccarrily your pump, possible you have a rear bearing going bad, which will sound as if a helicopter is coming through your laundry room. ( noisy pump can be the issue , honestly a better and cheapre problem to have) in order to determine if its apump problem you can remove the lower access panel and unplug the pump then start the spinn cycle, if it still loud the pumpms not hte issue.
