Re: wireless set up for ntl

Hey thats easy man dont worry, if you have a existing broadband at home, just connect the broadband to your router, then connect the cable that comes up with the router to your laptop. then access the web configuration of the router, the ip address is usually written in the manual. then configure it with the settings that your Internet Service Provider gave you to connect. then configure the wireless settings and your done... if you still have problems, please feel free to contact me again..........

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router
is there any computer connected to the router ?
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.

Just bought a new lap top have a wireless router on my PC but want to connect to the internet on my new lap top which is wireless enabled, it has picked up the router which is still named as default but...

From your PC (not your laptop):
Click RUN
Type CMD and press ENTER
Type IPCONFIG and press ENTER
Find the line stating "gateway"
Start Internet Explorer
Login to your router
Click the "wireless configuration" button
Set a new security-key or passphrase.

Now, try connecting wirelessly from your laptop, using the new security-key or passphrase.

Getting my router to work at its peak...

I suppose the new laptop has Vista on it.
find out the settings for the new provider and connect to the router with ethernet cable.
type in the browser address bar the address of the router interface: or usually.
put in the password (usually default is admin)and copy the settings in the corresponding fields,
usually there's a wizard for this.
the make sure to go in the wireless settings and set the wireless to enabled. find an option like DHCP server and make sure it's enabled. you can enter a passcode for your wireless, but it's not required, you can also set it to unsafe mode...
the you should be able to go to:
start>control panel>network center>connect to.
and connect to the wireless network
the you are probably good and should be surfing the web

Linksys router vs. hp computer

First of all u should ensure that DHCP server is configured for your required number of computers. this problem seems that you have less clients configured in your DHCP server, existing in router configuration.

the internet cable should be connected to the "Internet" or "WAN" port on the router. Your PC should be connected to one of the regular ports on the back of the router and your laptop can be connected just like the pc, or it can connect wirelessly.

Then you should be able to see the internet from your laptop.
