I received my westell modem DSL2+ Router today. I opened the box of modem and on the back there is a label that states that I need to run the installation Wizard before installing USB cable. Would you please explain to me how to do this? Does the modem have to be full connect before I can do this, in other words, all cables connect to modem and computer?? Please help, Dan

Re: Run Installation Wizard..
Yes. This means to say that you need to install all software that came with the modem, contained in a disc before connecting (installing) USB cable or anything else. After installation of the software and computer is restarted you can now then connect all peripherals for modem connection.

Ensure that your AT&T DSL
self-installation kit is complete. At minimum, it should contain a DSL
modem, an AC adapter, an Ethernet cable, a telephone cable, several
telephone filters and an installation CD.
Install the telephone filters on each telephone jack that you
have a phone plugged into. Install a dual phone adapter on the jack
closest to your computer if you have an answering or fax machine,
telephone or analog modem in the same room. Then plug your telephone
equipment into the filters. Connect the telephone cable that was
provided with your installation kit into an unfiltered telephone jack.
Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. If the
installation program does not start automatically, click Start > Run
> and browse to the CD-ROM drive directory to find the installation
Connect the telephone cable that is attached to the
unfiltered wall jack to the back of the DSL modem. Connect the Ethernet
cable to the back of the modem and to the Ethernet network interface
card port on the back of your computer. Connect the AC adapter to the
back of the modem and plug it into an electrical outlet. Power the modem
Check the modem lights. There should be at least two lights
lit. These will have labels such as "Power" and "Ethernet." However,
these labels may differ depending on the model of modem you received in
your installation kit.
Complete the software installation. Enter your chosen
username and password when prompted. Check your modem to see if the
light labeled "DSL" or "Internet" is lit. Open a web browser window to
see if your DSL service has been successfully installed.
try to do the ff:
power cycle modem/router
check router security settings
check for wifi barriers
delete previous wireless connections
If your wireless connection is working fine 2 wks ago then you may also try to run system restore
- If you want to connect 2PC's to your Westell, make sure your Westell router has 1 or more Ethernet ports on it for you to connect your 2PC'sto the Internet simultaneously, if hasn't you may need a desktop switch for it.
Plug your old modem back in and access it via the browser. Either dslrouter or 192.168.1.1 in the url seacrh bar. Go to configure and write down all the ISP setting and LABEL what sections in the configure they go to for your ISP. Still with me? The plug in your "new" modem access it the same way and enter the ISP and modem settings from the old modem; it should work.
What you need is another router to plug the Westell one into. I have the same Westell modem and what I did was I plugged it into a wireless modem (since my Wii and Laptop use wireless) but it also has 4 LAN ports in case I need them.
You do not need to bridge your modem or router. I set up a linksys 4 port router with westel wire-speed and could web to both. You need to ensure that the modem is not handing out dhcp. you will also need to find out what the ip scheme is on the ethernet side of your modem. Most frequently it is 192.168.x.x You will then need to set up your router's WAN interface (so labeled) to be on the same scheme. Use DHCP on your router and you should be good to go.
I know I left out some details, but I don't want to type a book if you are comfortable digging on the internet or can take it from here.
