SOURCE: I have a Brother MFC

If it is a remanufactured cartridge it could be defective. But have you tried cleaning the metal contacts on the front of the cartidge with some rubbing alcohol. You should also clean the metal contacts inside the printer with alcohol and a Q tip. There could be glue from the tape that is put on the cartridge to protect it when it was remanufactured. Alcohol is best because it dries fast, if not try it lightly damp with water make sure both are dry before retrying.. Both contacts could be dirty and preventing the printer from recognizing it. Make sure you unplug the printer before cleaning the contacts.
What happens went you put the old cartridge back in? is it recognized.
Thanks for using FixYa

Magenta ink not detected even though new cartridge

When replacing a cartridge also check the contacts on the cartridge and in the printer. They should be clean and shiny. One spec of dust can spoil the fun. When the contacts are clear an the next cartridge is having the same issue it could be the printer has a cable or contact issue, or even the logic board can be defect.

How do I clean the toner

Sounds like a poor quality toner was put in your cartridge. If you are using remanufactured cartridges see your remanufacturer for a replacement. If you are using OEM cartridges contact Brother directly and they can sort out the issues and supply replacement cartridges.

Leappad won't recognize game cartridges and when it does, the screen goes black and returns to home page

I used the pencil eraser first on each of my daughter's cartridges. Then I used a qtip to rub them with rubbing alcohol. Finally I used a blow dryer to blow out where the cartridges are installed and now her games are working just fine.

My Lexmark Impact S305 will not print in color.

If you're using a remanufactured/refilled cartridge, the printer will not be able to recognize those cartridges after the firmware update. The firmware update restricts use of refilled/remanufactured cartridges. That's to prevent damaging the printhead.

If you're using genuine Lexmark cartridges, please contact our technical support for assistance.

Bought compatible cartridges for lexmark S405 all in one. Won't authenticate them. locked out of printing. Any ideas

For the most optimal output experience with your AIO, Lexmark recommends that customers update their firmware. The firmware helps ensure that customers receive the highest yields of ink available from the cartridges, which offers the greatest value and means fewer necessary cartridge replacements.

If you choose to upgrade firmware, note that unauthorized use of third-party 'cloned' cartridges will no longer be possible.

When purchasing ink cartridges, Lexmark customers have two options:

Regular ink cartridges without license terms (100A/100XLA) that you may a) return to Lexmark free of charge (for recycling by Lexmark), b) refill, recycle or remanufacture themselves, or c) provide to third parties for refilling, recycling, or remanufacturing. Any Regular ink cartridge can be refilled by a customer or a third party and will continue to work in their Lexmark printer.

Return Program ink cartridges that provide customers with an up-front discount in exchange for their agreement to use the ink cartridge once and return it only to Lexmark for remanufacturing and recycling.

Lexmark X5690 Use no. 4/5, after refilling, printer will not accept cartridges and won't print.

Try to reseat the cartridges into the printer.
Note that Lexmark does not recommend the use of 3rd party/refilled/remanufactured cartridges. These type of cartridges tend to degrade print quality and cartridge performance.

Won`t recognize new ink cartridges. Still insists black is empty, other colors low, although all have been replaced. Any way to reset or override? Thanks

Hi there
There are only a few steps you need to do to reset a Brother printer ink cartridge and once you do it, you will be up and printing in no time. There are actually two things that a Brother printer uses to detect ink and you can manipulate one or the other.
Things You'll Need: · Black electrical tape, masking tape or duct tape
1. Step 1
Identify the printer If your printer uses memory, you can tell which printer you have by looking at where the cartridge goes in, if you see two "eyes" and a part of the cartridge goes in between them, follow Step 3. Otherwise, continue with Step 2.
2. Step 2
Clear the memory by taking the cartridge out and unplugging the unit for 30 seconds. Then, plug it back in and put back in the cartridge. You may need to do this five times, as the memory holds the last five cartridges.
3. Step 3
If the Brother printer has "eyes" where the cartridge goes, you will need to block in between them with a piece of tape so that it thinks the cartridge is always full. Simply put a piece of tape on the piece of the cartridge that goes in between the eyes to block the path of the infrared beam

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.
