Printing Avery labels through Brother MFC-8480DN jams

Whenever I try to print off a number of sheets of labels the paper will invariably jam and drag two or more sheets through at a time. I have tried setting the thickness to "Thicker" does not help.

SOURCE: Problem printing labels

These labels are supposed to be for laser or inkjet . A inkjet basically sprays the ink to print. A laser deposits plastic powder and then uses heat to melt it or fuse it to the paper. To get a good inkjet print you need a softwaer paper, to get a good laser print you want a harder paper and a glue that can handle the heat. I had a quick look at customer complaints on that product and you are not alone. Either the printing is coming off (inkjet) or the label is coming off inside the printer.

One of the other problems with labels in lasers can also be how the paper is printed. The paper can be rolled around a few rollers and drums. This action can be pretty close to how you peel the labels off of the backer sheet. Add a bit of heat to make the glue loosen up a bit and you get your problem.

Setting to thicker paper should have helped but the best thing you could do is print it flat. Most laser printers have a back tray that is usually closed. When opened the tray lets the paper come out without having to go around rollers. If your model doesn't do that about the only thing I could suggest is to try to print the labels on a cold printer. So that would mean one page or so at a time with a wait for it to cool down. You could also try a differant brand or another avery type but you may end up with a label collection if they prove to have the same problem with your printer.

When printing labels (Avery 5160) the labels start being shredded half way through and then the printer jams.

Have you setted up in the printer driver to print on label? the printer will automatically adjust the internal parts for printing on a higher density paper!
If you done it gently remove the Duplexer unit from the behind of the printer and chech for pieces of paper or everything could cause the paper jam!
Hope you found it useful, for futher questions i'm here :)

Duplo and Karagatan were early forms of Philippine drama. The Duplo was a poetic debate by trained men and women in the ninth night, which is the last night of the mourning period for the dead. The Karagatan was also a poetic debate like the Duplo, except its participants were amateurs. Both were held in homes and their theme was about a ring that fell into the sea.

Try putting more than one sheet of labels in the paper tray. Even if you're printing one label, it helps the printer grab the paper without that error somehow. If you're already using more than one sheet, I don't know. Good luck either way!!! :)

First off, NEVER EVER turn a componant upside down and shake it. Second, open the printer up and search for any additional paper. A lot of time a paper jam isn't just one sheet, especially if you have a faster printer. I would also try using some rubber rejuvinator on the printer so that it picks the paper up better so it goes through the printing cycle better.

Paper jam while printing on BROTHER MFC-290C all-in-one

hey

try this
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

Printer Jam - when i put a sheet of Avery labels, printer jams

When you say TOP TRAY, do you mean a paper drawer, or the BYPASS TRAY? If the labels won't feed into the bypass but bond paper does, check to see if your labels are made for inkjet printers. Go to www.avery.com and contact Avery customer support to see what product they recommend for your MFC. Labels made for plain paper printers sometimes do not work for inkjets, and vice-a-versa.
