I'm currently trying to fix an Inspiron 1545 that has issues with the touchpad and mouse keys. I am not able to use the touchpad as I normally would. When using the touchpad, it doesn't recognize when I'm clicking on a folder or file. I've disabled/enabled the touchpad and also reinstalled the drivers, but it still doesn't function like its supposed to. In addition, neither of the mouse keys is working. When I pressed the right mouse button, I didn't get the appropriate menu options. As a last resort, I did a full restore and that still didn't fix the problem. Will I need to replace the touchpad/mouse keys?

Try disabling the touch pad in the device manager. If that don't work unplug it from the motherboard. You will have to take the bezel and the keyboard off to unplug the touch pad.
