This is commonly caused by a broken motor coupling. If the washer fills and drains, but will not agitate or spin, the motor coupling is likely the cause. The coupling takes the place of a drive belt and couples the drive motor to the gearcase (transmission). This configuration is known as "direct-drive". The coupling can wear out due to normal wear and tear and easy to replace. The following link explains how:
This is a very inexpensive repair and its not difficult if you follow the steps provided. The newer replacement couplers are more resilient and resist breaking much better. The part number is included in the link I provided. You can purchase a replacement at appliancepartspros.com for about $11. If you do not wish to order on line, take the part number and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. This is a very common part that they should carry in their in-store inventory.
