I there, i have read the comments what others have wrote.

and i must come to the conclusion that it must be a hardware error because when it is a virus than it schould work instantly and not after 90 minutes, no virus does that,

what u can do is this:

1) make back-ups from your important files, photos, and so on

2)when u have done that than put in your recovery dvd or cd

3)now boot your system with the recovery that wil clean your notebook to fabrics instalation

4)when done than u have a clean xp or vista on it, than u can install your software new on it

5)now comes the part to test, when after 90 in start again than we now its hardware and not a very ugly virus

6) if it starts than contact acer for a rma to repair your notebook

It sounds to me like your windows is corrupt and you need to remove it and reinstall from your disk.
Also, try running it without the battery in.(just plugged in to socket)

"menus start popping up, keyboard won't work "

possible reason for the fault

1 System fault/viruses

This fault is common, the only way to exclude this possibility is by doing a complete file backup, formatting the hard disk and reinstalling the system. Thes is the first step done on repair.

2 Faulty Touchpad /Faulty keyboard/ Faulty Ribbon cable.

This is a common fault that can cause menu popping up as if you click the mouse buttons, you fix this replacing the mousepad, or the keyboard and cables.

3 Bios fault

This is very rare, and is associated to extra functions on button, in this case the laptop performs actions associated with special keys while you type, I don't think this is your case, as it would do it all the time.

Do back up and reinstall the system, if you still get the problem, have the mousepad assembly replaced.

Then this is a problem with the Operating system (OS) you are using.Try to format the OS drive alone and the see if it makes any change. It wont take much time.Software backup nowadays is not a big problem as you get almost every software downloadable.Hope it works, will await your comments.

try this, go to the task manager.go to processes. it might take time but might work out for this case. try checking all the processes running currently. if it is a virus undetected by McAfee, it should still be running in the system. the processes have names like hkcmd.exe or igfxtray.exe or svchost.exe and around 50 other processes.go for a google search of these processes; just type the name in the search bar.if it brings out a good result, that should mean its an existing process; else that could be the virus.
this is because any anti-virus software is not programmed to detect all the existing virus. there might be some exceptions. Please do try this.i hope it works.will await your comments.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Of course an alternate possibility is a hardware fault. Could you try physically disabling the keyboard of the Acer and use an external keyboard?

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy New Year.

Bear with me, "physically disabling the keyboard" would refer to removing the connection of the flat cable from the KB assembly to the motherboard.

It sounds like a trojen or a worm, that has a delayed trigger, or a certain program or key combo is triggering.
Go here http://www.avg.com/ , pickup a trial of the home version, go into safe mode and run it from there, that should do it. They also offer a great "free" home user, version, but get the pro version so we can get rid of that infection first

Have you ran an anti-virus program to scan your computer?

if you have a virus program on your computer update the definitions and scan your computer. If it turns out it has nothing to do with a virus you should open the computer up and clean out all the fans and heat sinks. Just get a can of compressed air and blow them out. Make sure your computer is off and you ground yourself by touching the case before you touch anything internal.

  • Dan rogers

then open the machine if it is not under warranty and blow the thing out and see if that helps

  • Dan rogers

You can try to get a cooling base for your laptop or if you don't want that expense keep the computer elevated so the bottom of the computer has pleanty of airflow.

If none of the previos solutions have helped you then we should probably start looking into replacing your ram.

When I go to start menu to shut down and press shut down it will just reboot and will ot shut down

Step 1:
Laptop computers can be wonderful devices, except when the need to troubleshoot arises. Acer laptops are no different. A quick way to fix many problems with an Acer laptop running Windows is to reset it to factory settings. Resetting your Acer laptop to factory settings can eliminate slow operation, registry problems, virus problems and spyware issues. What's more, a factory reset of your laptop may reduce the need for a full reinstallation of Windows.

Back up all necessary data to an external device such as a disk, flash drive or hard drive Make sure all programs are closed and shut down your Acer laptop. Detach any external hardware such as an external hard drive or printer. Press the Power button to boot your Acer laptop. Press "Alt-F10" on your keyboard when the Acer screen appears at the start of the boot-up process. Wait a moment while Windows loads the reset files. Select "Restore System from factory default" in the Acer eRecovery Management window. Click "Next" on the next screen to continue. Click "Next" on the following destination information window. This will pop up a notice telling you that resetting your Acer laptop will erase all data and restore the laptop to its original settings and configuration. Click "OK" in the notice window to proceed with resetting your Acer laptop. Wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

My computer dnt want to work after i upgrade it

It is possible that either the new components are not fully compatable with your notebook computer or the components are not making good contact with the rest of the system. Ensure that all components reciently installed are full seated and secure.

It would be a good idea to check that the components that you reciently installed into your notebook are in fact not the reason for the failed boot. Install your old components to confirm this. If for instance the notebook functions well after reinstalling the old components then you can say that the new components are not functioning in your notebook effectively.

Claim warranty support on these new components if this is the case.

    Take care!

Have fairly new acer one laptop and caps lock keys has stopped working

keyboards arent usally digital the aspire one keyboard is this means single keys go instead of say one was to go a whole side would go if it does not work no matter how hard it is pressed then it is definately broken try and open onscreen keyboard in accesibility and press it on and off it should light up on the onscreen keyboard if it works and it is just a fault with your settings.if it does not work then you will need a new keyboard they are 10 to 15 pounds sometimes cheaper i replaced my mums one they are basicly all the same just different colours and you will notice some models have the direction arrows sticking slightly out and they other less common ones have they keyboard completely rectangle to bit sticking out this is the only difference

to fit the keyboard if you look carefully at the gap at the top nearest the screen you will see a tab in the middle and one on each side about 2 keys in these press down slightly and pop the keyboard up use a butter knife to pop the first one while prising the keyboard up slighly once this side is out put your finger under this will hold it up just enough to make the rest pop out easy they keyboard will lift up dont lift just gently lift one side up and place it on the palm rest upside down as you will notice the wire is small just lift the little tab and pull out then just place the new one in the same place and pop it in and close the clip and sit it down bottom side first

please give me the best rating you can i hope this has helped i take pride in trying to answer questions best i can

Acer Aspire 9502WSMi Shuts Down When Upper Parts Are Pressed!

This sounds like a short of some kind from the motherboard touching either the body or some other peice of hardware, or you have a broken soldered joint on the board causing the problem. I would take to a qualified repairer.
