WWM200PC Waffle Maker will turn on but does not heat up

Waffle maker does not heat up after it is turned on. We received this as a Christmas gift and have only used this maybe 10 - 12 times. What is the warranty on this product? Is there a reset button to apply? to reset the power

We have the same problem. the redlight comes on when switch is turned on but no heat. We have narrowed it down to the thermostat because after we hear the initial click from the on switch we hear another softer click indicating ( we think) the thermostat has turned itself off which shouldn'thappen until correct temp is reached. We phoned a waring service depot for the part but were told that no parts are available for this model. What's with that?

I have tried TWO of these from Costco. Both of them failed with the same symptom. Thankfully Costco stands behind the products they sell and replaced both of them. Will the third time be a charm, or does Waring have a problem with this model?

We bought ours at Costco this summer - used it 3 times and now have the exact same problem. Plug it in, turn it on, hear a clicking sound, but it doesn't heat up...

WWM200SA, same deal. Power light, no heat, out of warranty, apparently no parts. Really not used much at all. I'd bet thermostat, but I'm not even pulling it apart to check it if parts aren't available.

I purchased Waring Waffle Maker from Costco and on the 4th time using, it would not heat up. I took back to Costco to get another one, but they were out. I lost receipt, but you no Costco, it does not matter because of your membership. Costco is Awesome when it comes to returns. Costco was $49.99 each, but they are out. Macy's, Sears, JCPenny are all $79.99 for same model, what a rip. Please let me know if Costco is bringing Waffle Maker Back.

Yes, we just got the waring pro WWM200PC from Costco and had the same problem. Used it with no problems about 15 times. New years day mornig - Lights on but no heat. Made in China.

Same problem. Took apart and found blown circuit board, with visable char marks.

  • blbcahills Jan 21, 2008

We are having the same problem - but we are the fools that bought it at JCPenney for $79.00. The Waring Co is only available from 8-430 - same hours I work. What can we do?

Hello!  I too received the waring waffle maker for christmas.  Used it 4 times and it just stopped working!  Was doing a batch for a weekend moring, made one waffle and then it stopped heating up.  Quite a mess with batter inside.  Tried turing it off, unplugging it, plugging back in, turning back on but nothing.  What now???

I used the WWM200PC twice and it quit heating. I returned the unit to Waring and they replaced it with a another model (WMK300) within 10 days. I had lost the receipt but the machines have a number code that gives them the purchasing information they need to know. The WMK is getting excellent reviews.

I had one replaced by the factory with no receipt. They were great about it. My manufacture date was more than a year, but they are flexible. It's worth a call, and the shipping charges to send the old one in.

Used my wwm200PC from Costco about 10 time and now it won't heat up. I told a friend to buy one of these because I thought it was the best wafle iron for the "money".they had the same problem. There is flaw in the electronics. I would like to see Waring do something about it. I wrote an email to customer service a month ago but haven't heard back.

  • Anonymous Aug 25, 2008

Got it at Costco. After using it about 10 mornings over a 6 month period, it stopped heating during a batch. The lights come on and it makes a click like the thermostat is switching, but does not get hot.

  • sebpense Oct 29, 2008

I own 2 of the Waring Pros purchased from Costco, one for each of my 2 houses and they have both failed, lights up but doesnt heat. When it worked, it worked well, but a couple months use from each isnt acceptable. I am going to take back to Costco for a refund and go from there. Seems like everyone has the same problem

I fixed one of these for a friend - the problem was an open thermal fuse. This fuse is located in the fixed grill; it is clamped to the grill and is covered by a white plastic sleeve.

The replacement part should be a 240°C/464°F 10 - 15 Amp thermal fuse. NTE sells a part NTE8242 which works available from for $1.41 plus shipping.

Thank You, Rick! My Wife and I love this waffle iron and were totally bummed when it died this am. After reading your repair advice we immediately ordered 2 of the fuses( just in case). It's the best w/i we've ever owned so your easy fix is greatly appreciated!

Was going to just get another one at Costco and swap out, but of course they are out.

Thought about ordering one from Amazon and swapping them out and returning. Fair amount of work involved in doing that, though.

Couldn't resist checking to see if it is something simple, and took it apart. It looks like the thermal fuse, which is there to protect against overheating due to failure in the temperature sensor, blew prematurely.

I ordered a replacement thermal fuse, SPF240, from Shipping practically at cost.

I am not familiar with this waffle iron but I doubt that it has a reset button. It sounds like you are not getting power to your heating elements and there is several different reasons that can cause this.

1. A supply wire to the elements has broken or is disconnected.

2. One of the heating elements is broken or burned out.

3. The on/off switch or the thermostat has malfunctioned.

4. The supply cord that connects the waffle iron to the receptacle has a broken wire or is not making contact where it connects to the waffle iron.

The only way to check this out is to have a small appliance repair person check all of these possibilities with a voltage meter to determin the area where the supply voltage is not making contact.

On my second use the ready light cover melted. Is it safe to use the waffle maker? Can this product be replaced?

I don't know much about waffle makers but indicator bulbs and their housing should never ever melt like that!! The product is not safe to use in this condition. I would suggest the heat from the waffle elements has somehow escaped into the waffle inards and melted other parts as well. You are entitled to a new replacement if it is only weeks old.

Waring Belgium Waffle maker shorted out and blew house breaker.

The wire near the fuse is shorting out on the metal under the lower grill. Mine did that when I replaced the fuse and turned it on. If not under warranty, it is easier to replace it for $39.95 from Costco than the hassle of taking it apart and trying to replace the fuse, which involves the time to take it apart, buying a fuse and either the crimper and connectors or a soldering iron and high temp solder, since the regular solder melts shortly after it begins heating.

I received the Professional Belgian Waffle maker as a gift and have only used it twice. During the second use, about the third waffle, the heating element stopped working. What would cause this? I was...

I think this was caused by the premature failure of a Chinese thermal fuse; they are poorly made and while the principle is sound (opens if necessary to prevent fire), the components are really poor and most appliances that use a heating element fail without cause due to the lousy quality of those parts. Because of the high levels of heat where these are mounted, they are most often spot-welded in series with the element and cannot be soldered in repair. Try contacting the manufacturer, I'm pretty sure they know of the problem.

I purchased a Star waffle maker in April and now it will not heat up who do I talk to about this problem?

Nearly all appliances that use high heat in their operation such as your waffle maker, coffee makers, toasters, use a thermal fuse to prevent fire. Unfortunately, these fuses are all coming from China and are very poorly made. Additionally, they are mostly welded to their mounts since the heat to which they are exposed is too high for soldering or fuse holders and are not user replaceable.
You will need to ship back your waffle maker to the mfr. for repair and you should have plenty of time left on your warranty.

We have a new waffle iron and it was seasoned as directed but the waffles stick.

We always use a bit of that Spray on butter... You still need to lubricate it each time you lay in a waffle...

Waffles sticking to waring pro waffle maker no matter how much spray I apply. Help! thank you

I have had a bad experience with some corn oil spray. The oil (and corn syrup) built up into a crusty and sticky layer. I had to use oven cleaner to strip it back down to the non-stick surface. Now I just use soybean oil with a natural boar's hair pastry brush. (Synthetic will melt!) I heat the waffle maker at the last moment possible. Heat turns oil into varnish. I oil the surface just before the first cup of batter. I like to scrub oil with the brush into all the dry looking areas. If your batter has 1 Tbs (soybean) oil per waffle, that may be all you need for the entire batch. Turn off the heat promptly. I don't wash the oil out of the non-stick surface unless it builds up.

Heating element

I personnally just went through this.

If it is less than one year old, and you have the receipt, go to the waring site, and look up the nearest dealer for repair and bring it to them. They should be able to contact waring for you and get you a replacement.

My replacement had a silver body virsus the original black body. The shop told me they have yet had a customer repeat of this problem.
