Question about Kenwood KR-A5080 Receiver

Open Question

I have a Kenwood KR-A4060 receiver, bought at a yard sale. Worked fine the first day, second day volume is REALLY low. Speakers are fine on another unit so I'm sure it's the receiver. Help!

I'm not getting any sound from my speakers Kenwood kr-a4030

You may need a repair on this tuner but a simple test you can perform is to hook up another set of speakers or even just one different speaker. Test and if you get volume it is your speakers.
Granted this is highly unlikely that you blew both speakers at the same time but it is worth testing. If the test does not change anything then you should get your KR-A4030 repaired.

I am attempting to determine when my Kenwood KR-8140 was made. I do have the serial number.

The Kenwood KR -8140 was probably made in 1971 or 1972. I bought one on close-out at the US Navy Exchange in Subic Bay in the Philippines in early 1973 at a sale discount at $307. Reg. price was $329. Of course, that means it would have retailed for $600. in the U.S.Mine got stolen in Summer 1974. I bought a used one on eBay in 2010. It still works!

Familiarize yourself with the controls. Understand every indicator on the front. There may be a clue there. Turn the volume to a medium or low level before changing any settings or you may be in for a BIG (and costly) surprise when you find the one that was in the wrong position.

Sound problem

Try cleaning the volume control with an electronics switch cleaner spray. If that does not resolve the problem and it seems to happen at low volumes more than load volumes, then the output relay needs to be replaced. Keep us posted. Dan

I have a Kenwood KR-A4010 Am/Fm Stereo Receiver. Every five seconds the sound fades in and out. Can anyone find a solution to this problem?

Something in the unit is smoked and potentially dangerous. Get that puppy down to a repair shop. Don't leave it unattended if you turn it on. Got a fire extinguisher handy?
