Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

No light on XBOX 360 power brick

Can someone tell me why the XBOX 360 power brick LED would not come on? Does it HAVE to be plugged into the xbox in order for the LED to come on? I have tried just plugging the brick into the wall and also into my xbox but it will not come on either way.

sounds like faulty power supplies, the power light should come on when you are not connected to a 360, mine does i just checked. it should be green or orange when you connect it to the 360

My xbox 360 e power brick have orange light when not plug in the xbox, but when plug in it have no light but fan is running and xbox wont turn on, and this is a new xbox.

I have the same issue sometimes with my 360. You are going to have to unplug it from the wall, let it completely power down, then plug it into the 360 first, then the wall. It should work then.

My Microsoft Xbox 360 Pro's power brick wont turn

You can try to Reset the AC adapter by following steps below.

1. Unplug the xbox 360 AC adapter at both ends (from the back of the system and from the wall outlet or power strip).

2. After you've waited a full 2 minutes, plug the AC adapter back in on both ends and check to see if the power light comes on.

If this doesn't work it's probably fried from the power surge.

Power brick red light when plugged into the xbox 360 but when its not its orange

If the power brick is plugged into a surge protector then try to plug it directly into the wall outlet instead (note: xbox power brick has it's own surge protector)

Make sure that the brick is clean and the ventilation holes are not blocked.

Unplug ALL cables from Xbox 360 and plug back in securely. (note that though some cables might appear to be secure but they might not be seeded correctly. Verify.)

Check power source and make sure there is no fluctuating current preventing stable current to the Xbox 360 when attached? Try to plug the xbox into a set in another room and see if it corrects itself. If so then you know that possability of outlet issue is likely.

Lastly... your power brick might be bad.

Xbox 360 elite showing no picture on screen...?? Have tried both HDMI and composite cables. Any suggestions

If the console turns on (you hear fans running and the ring of light is lit), possible issues may be:
1. TV is not on the correct input setting.
2. Graphics card failure (If under warranty, you should be able to send the console to Xbox for refurbishing).
3. Other hardware/software failure.

If the console doesn't turn on (No fans or lights), check the following:
1. Is the power brick plugged into a wall socket?
2. Is the Xbox plugged into the power brick?
3. Is the power brick LED lit? (If you answer no to this, the power brick is likely the problem.)

My xbox 360 is not coming on but there is no red rin of death. And on the box on the powercord no light is coming on. I left it in a hot room for a long time. can anyone tell me what is wrong?

Hi, if you take the power lead out the back of the xbox and plug it into the mains and switch it on you should get an orange light this should light up without the xbox being connected if this orange light on the power brick dont light up then check the fuse in the plug, change it anyway with one of the same type ie amp, then plug it in and give it a try if it it gives you orange light plug it into your xbox and you should be up and running, if it still dont work then the power brick needs replacing, see if you can try a friends to make sure your xbox hasnt blown as well and hopefully all you need is the power brick.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

The power brick on my xbox 360 is red and is not overheating yet i smaell burning plastic from my xbox 360 console anyone have any tips?

A red light on the xbox 360 power brick usually indicates the Xbox 360 console has a short circuit. Here is how to be sure:

1. Try unplugging the power brick from the wall and from the xbox 360.
2. Wait about 30 seconds and plug the power brick into the wall power outlet.
3. Make sure the indicator light on the power brick is orange. ( If it's not orange then get yourself a new power brick and try again ).
4. Plug the power brick into the Xbox 360 console and try to power it on.
If your power brick turns red or you get an immediate three red ring error than you will need to have the console professionally repaired.
If your warranty with Microsoft has expired; the company I work for GATpro Repairs offers this service at a low flat rate and we pay for the return shipping.
Good Luck and I hope this has helped!

My Xbox 360 won't turn on. When I plug the power cable into the wall, the orange light on the power brick lights up as normal, but if you plug the other end into the Xbox, the orange light starts blinking....

Sounds like a bad power supply, or on two occasions I have found that one of the USB ports had a bent pin which was shorted to the metal housing, which wouldn't let the unit power on. So check all of the USB ports

WTF this morning i plugged in my 360 and it just made a hum sound and the thing doesnt turn ON ! LIKE not even A LIGHT , i cant tell if the power brick light is orange or red it worked fine like 5 hours...

yes that is a complete possibility. Ensure that the xbox power brick is not flashing red and is just on the standby orange color. Id recommend calling the people http://www.360-pros.com where you can get your xbox fixed for 60-100 dollars. I have used them before and found there work to be excellent and reliable. They fix all problems as i have seen many xbox's that have stopped working (mainly halo and older elite editions) not RROD either. If its broke they will fix it :).

first though some trouble shooting.

ensure that all cables are properly plugged in. video and power.

Power brick colour

Alright, lets fix this!
Xbox 360 power supply light is orange or yellow.
Usually when the Xbox 360 power supply light is orange it's on standby so there is no problem with your Xbox 360 console but the power supply can't supply it with power !

First you have to try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console & unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord, wait for a minute then reconnect it all back , also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cords at all.
If it's still doing the same it will be definitely a fault with the Xbox 360 power supply.
So, in this case please contact Xbox 360 customer support to fulfill the Xbox 360 power supply.

Xbox 360 power supply light is red.
There is something wrong with the Xbox 360 power supply connection so try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console & unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord, wait for minute then reconnect it all back , also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cord at all.

If it's still red that would be for sure a fault with the Xbox 360 power supply .
So, then contact Xbox 360 customer support to fulfill your Xbox 360 power supply .

You can also find replacement power cords many places online. See if you can get your hands on another cord and try that to see if its the current power cord.
Hope this helps you out! Please don't forget to rate :)
