Question about Sony KP-57WS510 57" Rear Projection HDTV
I have this same model with a convergence isse dealing with only the Red color. Both green and blue line up perfefect but only the red is bowing, concave. The convergence chips are STK392-560 and it shows them to be 3 channel. I tried switching the two chips around expecting to see a change still had the same result. The chips are getting the voltage applied (22V) but I'm not understanding how just that one color is off. Could this be in the signal area?
You have a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms.
Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.
Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.
If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors.
Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit for your exact model. The kit includes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc. Everything you need to fix it yourself.
