Question about GE Profile JTP56 Electric Double Oven

Open Question

GE Profile JTP950 Double Oven temperature not going on

Our double oven has been problematic for about a year. We solved the dreaded F7 error with a suggestion to insulate the ribbon with slips of paper. Now we have a different problem. The top convection oven doesn't go above the 100 degree mark. I can hear the convection fan working properly. The bottom oven worked for awhile but now the bottom oven is doing the same. I disconnected the power and restarted. The panel for the time display 12:0 when turned on. After resetting the time, it looks normal. Ignoring that, the panel appears to work fine. So both ovens will not heat.

Is your Double-Oven "Electric"? If so, it appears your having insufficient power either coming to (Very likely) or internally within your oven (Likely).

Are you receving "full 240v" at the oven "electrical connection"? (Very likely)

Despite re-setting breakers, you may still not be receiving the 240v needed and is very commonly mis-understood. Meaning, you may have an electrical problem at your homes' main electric panel (breaker, wiring, etc.) I would test the in-coming power supply line at your oven; usually connected to the rear/back or bottom of the oven.) The oven control panel may deceivingly appear to be functional when receiving partial power of 110v.

You can still also have a bad control board (unlikely) or a defective fuse (likely) within the oven (can be located on outside rear of oven or inside/near control panel).

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F7 on your oven means that the keypad is shorted or stuck and to resolve this issue you’ll have to replace the Electronic Range control (ERC). Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Ge profile performance double oven. getting an F7

F7 is a stuck keypad/button.
Push all buttons at random several times each. This will sometimes un-stick a stuck button.
If that does not work the keypad control will have to be replaced.

326B1230P001 GE Double oven that displays ?F7? and beeps

I have a GE JT950 double oven that just did the same thing: F7 and beeps like crazy. I found solution on another post: an engineer figured out how to solve the issue without calling GE or buying parts. I just did it tonight and it worked fine. Here is a copy of the post:

Send an e-mail to Charlie at hutchipop@yahoo.com for a fix-it that you can try. He explains a possible solution fully with his 'The Dreaded "F7" Error' solution. I actually found his information on another website when I did a web search for "GE Profile Oven F7 Issue". I sent an e-mail to him and he replied with free fix-it information. I am not a repair person myself, but, his instructions are very clear and simple to follow. I did the fix-it at no cost in approximately 10 minutes and it has solved my problem

FO message means there is short in the clear Off touch button. The only solution replace the complete panel. My cost delivered $328. Ouch!

F7 error message on GE oven

My oven is also a JT950 and the builder installed it in our home back in 2000. Our F7 issue started about 2 years ago. For a few months, "clearing" the panel and/or shutting the oven off at the breaker panel would temporarily solve the problem. About 1 1/2 year ago, however, the F7 would come on and continually beep. A repairman looked at the oven and replaced the control panel at a cost of $600 (ugh...). That solved the problem until a month ago when the F7 continuous beeping began again. There was no way I was going to pay another $600. for "temporary" repair and I was thinking of replacing the oven. Luckily, I came across the above-mentioned fix-it information and took a chance by following the simple instructions provided.
