Re: Weird caption...

I have experienced this problem also. I am not a tech but was told by the cable guy it has something to do with the parental control settings. I dont know if its true personaly I doubt it. However it does dissappear on its own. I just learned to accept it. However it could have been a precurser to the set turning itself off. I am recieving a set I bought for parts on E-bay. Maybe I'll find the culprit as I change out individual boards.

How display captions on TV from DVD player?

The captions availability is part of the DVD program that you are watching. If the movie or feature recorded on the DVD disc has got captions then you should be able to select it as part of the DVD setup menu that shows up on screen when you insert the DVD disc in the DVD player.

CLosed Captions won't go off. Setting says they are off.

Go back and just "look" to see if the captions are still turned off.
if it is still on CC1 or CC2, the captions are still on.
If they are, you must turn captions off and then follow on screen prompts to make sure they are indeed off.
(Did someone turn on the captions on your cable box or other receiver?)
(If they did, this may be the reason that you can/t turn them off on the TV !)

There is weird letters popping up on the screen

Ok..........un plug the set and your cable or sat reciever.........plug back in to reboot sure your set up shows captions and text "off"
Next step if this does not solve is to play a dvd and see if ok. this will separate the tv from your cable or sat reciever. If still continues your set may have corrupted data in the eeprom and need main board. Try the ez stuff first!!
