Question about Hotpoint Freezers
After defrosting the A2 fault code came up, and have been unable to cancel it since, although freezer is still freezing although switched off
what you are hearing is the overload kicking in and out. which means bad start relay /bad capacitor/low voltage/bad overload/bad compressor.you can buy a 3in1 to eliminate all but the compressor. and the voltage check them first.

SOURCE: fridge and freezer both freezing
If your control is not turned up too high you likely have an insensitive one. In this case it needs to be replaced with a new one, not too serious.

There is a duct between the freezer and refrigerator. Sometimes this duct blocks off with ice and won't allow airflow. Open your refrigerator door and check for air flow if there is none the duct needs to be defrosted. turn off freezer/ refrigerator and defrost.
