The likelyhood of a gaming company giving you a new CD KEY is slim to none. If the game isn't an online game, a quick google search will probably solve this.

If it is an online game I'd say your up a creek without a paddle. Some companies will give you an option to buy a new cd key (usually cheaper then the game + cd key)without buying everything else

The safest way is to let windows update install your drivers. Make sure you have windows updates enabled. The other way is to go to the manufactures website of your pc and download drivers from there. First make sure you do not have any malware, try a free program like Malwarebytes and run it. You can download it from cnet, I will attach a link.

D3dx9_37 is missing?

This is due to the fact that your Direct X 9 version is either out of date or just plain missing.
The d3dx9_37.dll file is one of many similar files contained in the DirectX software collection. Because DirectX is used by most Windows based games and advanced graphics programs these errors usually show up when using these programs.

To fix this it is as simple of downloading the latest version of DX9.
Click here to go to FileHippo and get the June 2010 version. Click on the green arrow to the right to start the download.

I've had many people ask me "how is this possible when I've just installed Windows Vista or even Windows 7." The simple answer is that when you install Windows Vista for example it ONLY installes Direct X10 components and when you install Windows 7 it ONLY installs DirectX 10 or 11. Therefore you will need to seperately download and install DirectX 9 in order to play games in DirectX 9 solve this problem.

If installing the latest version of DirectX 9 doesn't solve the problem then do the following:
  • Explore the game CD you are trying to use and find the DirectX 9 version the game or program came with. Install this version.
  • Uninstall the game or software and then re-install it. One of the files associated with d3dx9_37 may have been overwritten or deleted by accident.
  • You could try extracting the d3dx9_37 from the DirectX 9 package and placing it where it needs to be.
  • Re-install or update your graphics card drivers.

What is error code # 0x80040702 and how do you fix this problem

The 0×80040702 error is common on computers on which you are trying to install a game or software. The biggest reason why this error appears is because of missing DLL files on your system. To fix this, you must first see if your PC has any of the missing DLL files on your PC and if it does, then put that file in the right place. To do this, click on Start > Search. Then search for the filename the installer claims is missing. If any results come up, then copy the file into the C:\Windows\System32 folder of your PC. If there are not any files with that name on your system, you should search for "filename + download" on Google, download the file and put it into the C:\Windows\System 32 folder. This should cure the problem.

I need instructions on how to reinstall my sound device, I have no sound comeing out of my speaker and it is hooked up and turned on

  1. Bad software settings.
  2. Corrupt or missing sound drivers.
  3. Compatibility issues with the operating system and/or other hardware.
  4. Speaker related issues.
  5. Bad or missing sound card.
Windows XP
  1. Open the Control panel
  2. Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon.
  3. Verify the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox is checked. If this option is not available or is grayed out, skip to the next section of this document.
  4. If you were able to check this box, click ok and close out of this window and the Control Panel.
  5. Double-click the sound icon in the Systray and verify that all the sound volumes are mid-way or higher.
  1. Open the Windows Device Manager
  2. Verify there are no conflicts or errors listed anywhere in Device Manager. If conflicts exist skip down to conflicts section.
  3. Verify no other devices are listed. If other devices are listed skip down to other devices section.
  4. Verify that your "Sound, video and game controllers" category is listed, if not skip down to the missing sound card section.
  5. If no conflicts or other devices are listed and your sound card is listed with no conflicts, skip to the next section.
If you are unable to locate additional information about your issue or are unable to resolve the issue, follow the below steps.
  1. Under Sound, Video and game controllers highlight each device and press the delete key to remove the device.
  2. Reboot the computer.
  3. As the computer is booting the system will detect the sound card and any of it's devices and re-install those devices. If prompted for a location of drivers, try pointing it to your sound card CD and/or your Windows CD. If this does not work or is unable to locate the proper files, you will need to get the latest sound drivers from your sound card manufacturer.

Corrupt modules installer service in vista w/ error code 800b0100

1. Make sure that the default location for downloads is Desktop.
2. Find the specific update on the Microsoft webstie (you may find it
easiest to write down the update number when the automatic
installation starts).
3. Download it; when the dialogue box pops up, check "save to disk".
4. Go to your desktop and double click the icon for the Download.

Hi, i just installed: Hunting unlimited 2008 today and i double-click on the icon and i get: "Sys_no_graphics" its the prism3d.exe i think that is causing the problem. is there a patch or anything that can...

Hello darrel_grn:
It seems that you have a graphics driver missing for the video card you are using in the game.
Many of the big games and programs which need heavy graphics to make it work right, need to be able to detect the video card, and sound card. Look in your help files or online to see what the program supports. You may be able to get drivers from the author's website, if that is the problem.
Here you can get different drivers for that game. http://www.scssoft.com/huntingunlimited2008-support.php

You may want to try to uninstall the game and re-install it again, and make sure no other programs are running, especially anti virus programs which can cause programs to not install correctly if they are running.
You may also check to make sure your system is up to date. I assume you are running some version of Windows. I did a short research of the game, and it does not seem to be very complicated.

Try installing the game in compatability mode...might work...
explore the game cd
look for the setup.exe or install.exe
right click and view properties
look for the compatability tab
under compatability click the box that says run this program in compatability mode ....make sure you choose windows xp then ok the window
now double click on the exe file that you´ve just changed and see if that works

After downloading game prisontycoon3 i get a msg saying unable to detect d3dx9_25.dll cannot start game

I believe that it's DirectX that you either don't have or there is a problem with it. It's needed to play most Microsoft games and the latest version is available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en. If you still have a problem just put d3dx9_25.dll into Google. There's a lot of places and instructions to download and install.

Ive installed a new game and all the requirements that are needed are fine but when i go 2 launch the game i have black screen...but i can hear the sound so the game seems to be playing

My best guess is that the game is unable to set the video mode properly, try reducing the resolution before launch.

How do you get out of the 'black screen'?
