Question about YouTube Videos
Whenever i want to play a video, i click on the
video, then that takes me to the screen where it should start playing,
and everything loads right, because i see everything except the video
itself, all i get is a black screen, no audio. I dont even get a
button to press play or pause. its just a black rectangle. Ive
followed the suggestion to unistal adobe flash, and then reinstall it
with the latest version..and then restart your computer. So iv done
all that and the problem still persists. and i know its not just the
site down because i can get on my main computer upstairs and watch
videos all day long. If you could help me that would be amazing, thanks
You have to download video and audio codecs for that matter. Go to this link:

I had a black screen on youtube, no control buttons.
The odd thing was that I could play most of the featured vids.
I fiddled around for half the day uninstalling, reinstalling things.
!!! and finally found the soulution to my particular problem!!!
When I got to that point I noticed that the 'enable protected mode'
box was checked..UNCHECK IT!.
Youtube now works for all vids, Hopefully I'll have no security problems as a result but I use internet security and a firewall.......

I use firefox. All latest flash and Java downloaded. Same problem. To fix: go to "Tools" Select "Add ons" disable: Java quick starter 1.0
This worked for me

I had exactly the same problem after installing Flash version 10. To fix whe the black screen loads right click on About Flash Player and it should load an Adobe page with a Flash Installation Complete video playing at the top. If this displays then restart your browser and all should be ok.
If the Installation Complete video doesn't work try unistalling adobe flash and reinstalling

I just had this problem and I finally figured it out so I hope this works for you!
first of all checkyou have the latest version of adobe flash player (which is flash player 10 right now)
If you don't have the latest version then download it by right clicking the video, selecting 'adobe flash player' andthen following the steps on their website.
If this doesn't help (it didn't help me) then it's because you need the latest version of java. When I restarted my computer after downloading the adobe flash player, a java update appeared on the bottom right hand corner of my screen. I simply clicked and downloaded the update and my youtube videos suddenly played!
so basically check you have the latest updates of adobe flash player and java! :)
