Question about Whirlpool RF3020 Electric Kitchen Range

Whirlpool Electric Range coil element gets red hot at low setting

It doesn't happen all the time, if I play with the dial enough I can get it to heat at medium etc.   I believe if is called an infinite switch attached to the dial since it doesn't click from one dial setting to the next.  This from a friend trying to help.

    Hi Yamahakrisfi,
Sounds good.  The model number is WGE30301, and I'm in Canada.

I'm not sure what the long model number is.  I found schematics on under that model I sent.  Hope this helps, otherwise, perhaps you'd be able to tell me how to get you the long model number.

Hi, Your problem is with the regulator switch! This is just a simple replacement of the switch unit. The tricky part is getting it to pieces to install the new one. If you can send me the model i might be able to assist you with taking it apart....

I cant find that model number anywhere? Could you send me the long model number?

Hi,Audrea, As you can see from the schematics, you will need to take the end caps off the facia control panel to access the reverse of the control panel. If you look at diagram 2 this shows you where the screws are located. Just follow these as it is self explanitary. If you have any further questions just get hold of me....

I have the same problem. I'm not sure how old the unit is because you can't read the model number. My guess is 20 years old. Is it worth it to replace the switch or just get a new one?

Sounds like one of your heating elements is not heating properly.
Check to make sure you are getting power to both of the heating coils, you can check that by removing the two covers over the heating elements and checking with an electric ohm/volt meter for power to the elements. If you have power going to both elements then you will need to check the elements themselves.
Unplug the water heater and then check the two heating coils to make sure they have continuity across the two terminals. You probably will find only one is working, replace it with a new element and enjoy all the hot water you can use.

I have a whirlpool range. During preheating the

sounds like you may have a bad bake element. try to see if the unit will get hot when set to broil. if it does then try the bake again. if you get no red hot heat from the bake element then you may need to replace it.
when an element is working properly it will heat to a red hot glow.

Bottom heating element in oven is not heating up.

If the element only works partially or not getting red hot at the "Hi" setting, the problem might be with a burned out receptacle that the element plugs into. If this is the case, replace both the element and the receptacle.

You can usually tell when the element itself burns out. It might have small holes or bubbles on the coil. Replace the element, if found defective.

Dryer not heating hot enough to dry

Check for a clog in the piping, Make sure the squirrel fan you replaced not backwards, also visually check an see if the heating element is glowing completly red, if not it's probley getting only 120 volts, not getting 240 volts, if that be the case you'll need a new switch. There are about three switches that could cause that problem, the high temp switch, low temp switch or the timer switch.
