Printing Problem The printing is not uniform in manner. Several BLANK lines intermittently appear on the printed page, therefore I don't get a complete print. I have replaced the drum and the cartridge, but the blank lines still appear. Thank you for your assistance, Tony (new Orleans)

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, if the distances between the "BLANK lines" are the same, then it is a mechanical fault. If the "BLANK lines" are intermittent with no apparent consistency in the blanking/missing lines of print, then it would be toner dispersion problem (cartridge). Remove the cartridge, shake vigorously to even out the toner/powder inside. Try again and print 2 copies of the same page. compare the 2 similar printouts. Note the "BLANK lines" if likewise identical. Alternately, since drum would refer to a laser system, print a test document, mark it as #1, then print a blank page, use that same blank printed paper immediately while still warm and print again the test document mark as #2. Notice/compare, if any significant change in the print quality. If yes, then it would be drum/heater issue.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy New Year.

Try performing a print head cleaning procedure,, do that a couple of times.

If the lines are uniform and vertical, do also alignment and clean the encoder strip with isopropyl alcohol and cotton.

The encoder strip is the plastic strip that runs near to the traction belt.

It sounds like the drum unit has a really dirty charge wire. Toner gets on it and hardens and will start arcing, causing blank copies. Try replacing the drum unit

Blank copies from copier

You don't say what model your fax is.

In general. If when copying you get a Full BLACK page printed then the scanner lamp is not lit. As no light is reflected into the image scanner, it interprets this as BLACK information so therefore only black is printed. Look into the ADF while the document is being scanned and I bet you will see no green light at all. A new Contact image sensor should cure it.

No print on copies or faxes

This is a clogged print head. This happens if the printer has been off for a long time or if the cartridge was removed and the unit left empty for any time.
Take out the cartridge and press the print part on a piece of paper. Any black lines? If not, you will need a new cartridge. Wiping the print head gently with a Q-tip moistened with PURE alcohol (99%) may restore printing.

Top of page prints OK. Bottom blank

My first guess would be phone line problem. Print out an activity report (if you don't have a users manual you can download it at www.brother-usa.com ) and check to see if you have had any communication errors. If you notice no errors then make 50 test copies. If your test copies look good then I would lean towards a phone line problem. if they come out like you have described then I would start with your toner and drum first, second laser and third main board.

HP 640 Fax series not printing

If it is a color printer, try printing just grayscale or black& white.  It is is already set to print just b/w, try printing in color.  Basically you may be out of ink.  Run the printer utility to clean the heads and see if anything changes.  A new set of cartridges should fix the problem, I believe.
Hope this helps...

Samsung MFC-SF560 fax not printing complete page

If you have already try another image unit, you should try to make a copy or print a report. If the prints came out ok, the problem could be the telephone line. GOOD LUCK.

Vertical lines

1st print a report, can you see the lines? Then either the drum is faulty or the laser scanner is. If the lines are not present when printing a report, make a copy and see then if the lines appear. If so, the scanner is faulty. Try cleaning the glass with glass cleaner. However, blank lines mean that bits are missing from the scanner itself and the scanner will need to be replaced.

Printing problem

Are the problem prints all from the same source? If so the problem could be on the transmission end. Can you connect to your fax and print to it from a local workstation? If so print several images with dark solid patterns and see if it is actually the printhead. Try printing in cyan, magenta, yellow, and black colors to to rule out each individual printhead.
