Re: how do i change a fuse in a kitchenaid overhead...
The solution to get to the lock handle is correct when you need to unmount the microwave from under/between cabinets -- however to replace the internal fuse you simply need to remove the control panel in the front. To do this remove the louver (pulls off) and remove the one screw at the top of the control panel. Remove the control panel carefully as there are many wires and it won't pull that far out but far enough to get to the fuse which is located on the left about half way up. You can then replace the internal fuse and hopefully that solves your problem!

Re: how do i change a fuse in a kitchenaid overhead...
Hello,On the front of the microwave above the door is a louvered panel. You need to remove the panel ( usually it just pulls straight off ) and inside on the left you will see a metal rod that's bent 90 degrees. That is the lock handle. While lifting on the front of the microwave pull that handle out to release the lock. The front of the microwave will tilt down, you may have to help it start tipping. Once the microwave is tipped down you have to lift the back that is against the wall to unhook it from the wall mounting panel. Be careful to feed the power cord through the cabinet hole as your lowering it. Good luck and let me know how this works.

Unplug the power cord and make sure it will come out easily when you start to take out the mounting screws. There are 2 or more screws in the cabinet floor above the microwave. Be ready to catch the microwave once the last screw is removed because it will drop in the front. Then lift the back of the case off the tabs on the wall mount bracket and the whole thing is in your hands.
If this is a built in mounted under an overhead cabinet, Just open the above cabinets and there will be 2 long screws facing downward that hold it in place, if it is a built in that is framed in then you will need to remove the frame and the brackets behind the frame that are holding it in place and then slide it out.
First, you need to uninstall the microwave (MW) from the cabinet by removing the screws that hold it in place at the top. Open the cabinet doors above the MW to locate the screws. You will need someone to help you at this point in removing the screws and dropping the MW down. Be sure and unplug the MW before you remove the screws. Next, you need to take the cover/shell off by locating and removing screws A/R. They are mostly across the back and side bottom. From there on out, you should be able to methodically find and locate the various fasteners that will get to the button pad.
Jim here. In cabinet above microwave, locate 2 mounting bolts.
Place a box on the stove top to support the microwave once the mounting bolts are removed (you may wish to cover the box with a thick towel or small throw rug).
1. Unplug microwave.
2. Remove both mounting bolts from top of microwave (they secure it to the overhead cabinet).
3. With microwave front angled down onto box, pull some of power cord out of hole (to provide some moving space).
4. With microwave hand supported, remove box from stove top (a second set of hands would be helpful here).
5. HARD PART- detach top of microwave back from wall mounting plate by placing a hand under the bottom rear of the microwave and pushing up. (Wall mounting plate is screwed into the wall behind the microwave and provides both top and bottom support to the back of the microwave.)
6. Lower front of microwave until you can see about a 1-inch clearance between the top-rear of the microwave and the cabinet above it.
7. Firmly lift the microwave straight up and then bring forward. It should be free of the wall mounting plate.
Is there a wall behind where the microwave is to fit?
Most of these ship with a mounting plate and instructions for mounting to the wall. In fact, the wall bracket carries about 1/2 the weight, and the overhead cabinets carry the other half. The plates come with a good set of instructions for how to install.

Remove the face plate above the door. You will see two bolts where you can use a screwdriver to turn them (unlock them). Those bolts go all the way to the back of the microwave. Once you have turned them (you do not need to remove them), you will need to remove the one - three screws that come in from the cabinet above. You may have to jar it loose if it still stuck.
You put a mounting plate on the wall behind where the unit will be mounted. Then the microwave hooks onto the bottom of the mounting plate and you swing it up to the cabinet above it. Then you must screw 2 mounting screws through the floor of the cabinet above into the bracket on top of the microwave.
