did you look in device manager , what OS windoz 7? see the devices, see web cam? if not unplug the device that has said web cam, the monitor? the replugging re awakens the web cam, usb cam. and must show up in device manager, and also in run box. type devices. and click that. see all the devices there, no matter what , you will need to force and update on the device. ever do that before? if the device web cam shows up in device manager. you right click it and do update driver. that is it, but you must be connected to the web or all is lost.
if new system, factory defect on web cam, hope for warranty cover for free replacement , parts and service, else if web cam used to work then stopped , reinstall driver for webcam, all else fails replace web cam
try to uninstall previously installed cam software and restart the pc and again install the cam drivers and after installing the drivers connect your webcam and check whether it is detecting or not? but be sure that you have proper webcam driver for your operating system.
In order to use your web cam and take pictures follow these steps :
- Check if your web cam is working or not ( when you turn on the web cam do you get the power light on or not)
- If the web cam is working fine if it is not then you can check the cables, unplug it and replug it if you are using an external cam on a desktop computer.
- Uninstall the web cam software from add and remove programs from control panel.
- reinstall the web cam software / utility. you can do this using the disc which you have got when you bought the web cam.
If you don't have the disc you can go to the manufacturers web page and you can download the software and driver from there. Must ensure that you select the correct serial number of your web cam when you do this.
Check the device manager and see if the drivers for your webcam is properly installed, you will see a yellow triangle exclamation mark beside the webcam if the driver is not installed properly. You can check the updated drivers at the support website www.support.dell.com. Hope this helps
