Satellite Radio Ready: There are several options for connecting an optional XM or SIRIUS Satellite Radio receiver to this receiver:

  • XM Satellite Radio: To receive XM Satellite Radio, you can connect the optional CNP2000UC XM Mini Tuner and the CNP-KEN1 Kenwood adapter cable (package item number 700XMKEN1).
  • SIRIUS Satellite Radio: To receive SIRIUS Satellite Radio, you can connect the optional SIRIUS Universal Vehicle Tuner (607SCC1) and the optional Kenwood Sirius Satellite Radio Interface (113KCASR50).
  • Auxiliary Input: A portable satellite radio receiver, such as the Delphi SkyFi3 or SIRIUS Sportster, can be connected to the head unit via the auxiliary input or a Kenwood Auxiliary Input Adapter, such as the CA-C1AX, CA-C2AX, or KCA-S220A. Note: A subscription is also required to receive satellite radio programming from SIRIUS or XM.
Changer Controls: This unit is directly compatible with Kenwood changers manufactured in 1998 or later. If the changer has an O-N switch, the switch will need to be set to the "N" position.

Select a preset channel on XM Radio. (Ex. 88.7FM on east coast.)
Turn radio in house or vehicle to the same FM frequency.
Enjoy! You should now hear non-stop music, news, etc. :)

It plug into the changer controller port with an adapter.
Press SRC (source) until the changer mode is active - enabling the sat. input to come through.
Also, be sure the XM tuner has power, and that the antenna is hooked up, and visible to the sky out the rear window.
Lastly, you must activate the radio thru XM.
If all these steps have been taken, please feel free to comment and I will assist you further.

Have you done the following as well?.....

Installation Overview: The XM MiniTuner, which comes installed in a docking station/car cradle, plugs directly into the Protocol Interface Adapter (PIA). The XMDirect² connection cable for your aftermarket car stereo (sold separately) plugs between your XM-ready radio and the PIA via a 34-pin connection. You must also mount the magnetic antenna on the roof or trunk of your vehicle, and route the cables inside the vehicle so you can plug it into the docking station/car cradle. Before installation, you must first download the proper radio model protocol from the XMDirect² website. This requires connecting your PC to the PIA via the supplied USB Programming cable and accessing the Internet.

Note: You must have Windows XP Pro installed on your PC for programming the XM MiniTuner. This unit is not compatible with Vista.

Hi XM Direct is a universal tuner that can be connected to any satellite-ready radio through a variety of digital adapters. The adapters connect XM Direct to your in-dash stereo system so you can enjoy XM Radio using your existing stereo controls and display.  XMD1000 XM SATELLITE RADIO TUNER IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS LISTING. THIS LISTING IS FOR THE KENWOOD XM ADAPTER, PART# XMDKEN100 ONLY. With the XMDirect Universal Tuner Box and the Kenwood adapter cables, you can enjoy XM using your car stereo's buttons, knobs & display. The KENXMD100 digital adaptor enables the XMDirect Universal Tuner Box to interact with many KENWOOD head-units:

Assuming that the Head unit is Satellite Ready. There should be a Setting in the Reciever And the Sat Tuner to get them to correspond to each other. If all else Fails just start using the Frequency Tuner. Works Great on ALL my Vehicles with no Problems. Check the Settings Options for Both and let me Know.

The XM radio signal comes and goes...I've had the antenna changed twice. Any advice?

If you're using it with a SXV300 or SXV200 add-on tuner, there's a known issue where there's a poor connection between the antenna plug and the jack on the tuner. Plug in the antenna, then pull the cable down so it keeps a bit of tension on the plug. Use zip-ties to secure the antenna cable to the side of the tuner to keep up the tension.

The radio says it's Satellite ready, but when I hit the search button I do not get a Satellite option. When I called Sirius/XM to switch service from one car to another, they said that I must now also...

No it is satellite ready, meaning you need to add atuner to the stereo, but you can use the stereo to control the tuner. Again, a seperate tuner will need to be bought and installed. Good Luck.

I don'tknow how to use the satellite radio...

Got this off the crutchfiel web site.

Item #700XMSON1 $129.98 This XM Direct 2 package includes everything you need to add XM Satellite Radio to your compatible Sony receiver: an XM Mini-Tuner, a CNP2000UC universal adapter, and a Sony connector cable. The Mini-Tuner connects to the universal adapter, then you use the connector cable to hook up the adapter to your Sony receiver.
Use your home computer to program the universal adapter for your Sony receiver — you can reprogram this adapter to work with another brand in the future. Once connected, you'll be able to change channels and see programming information on your stereo's display. You can also use the included XM Mini-Tuner with your XM-ready home receiver or in another vehicle with a compatible dock.
A computer running Windows XP and Internet Explorer is required. The unit is not compatible with Windows Vista.
Note: A subscription to XM is also required — learn about XM's programming. Satellite radio service is available only within Canada and the lower 48 states — not available in Hawaii or U.S. territories. Portable reception may vary by location. If you have questions about the proposed XM/SIRIUS merger, read the XM Customer Promise. To view this file, you will need the Adobe Acrobat PDF reader.

Kenwood Tuner Works Through amp, CD & Ipod dont turn on amp

You have the amplifier remote and power antenna remote installed backward. Switch them. The radio drops power to the power antenna when you choose a source other than TUNER... thereby shutting the signal down to the amplifier's remote turn on lead.

There should be a reset button on the unit. That would probably be the first thing I would look at.
