Cost of the display panel will exceed the cost of a new set not counting labor----sorry, but this is fatal.

SOURCE: The audio doesn't work

When you say it does not work on HDMI inputs does that mean you have tried other inputs such as RCA Yellow White Red or Component RGB? Please provide this info so that we can continue the diagnosis. If the sound does not work on RCA or Component inputs either, connect a pair of headphones to the headphones jack and see if you get audio. That should eliminate the posibility of faulty speakers.

Vizio M260va,has power and audio but no back lighting. Flashlight test shows that there is an image on the screen just no lighting. have taken apart the unit, no visible signs of failure. not sure what...

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

I have a Vizio M260VA and the picture is cropped in too tight for the screen. Is there a way to set the picture so it fits the screen?

on your Vizio remote is the word WIDE, mine is in the lower left corner. Click on that and you will be given choices or different screen options.

It sounds that the T'Con board [Timing Control Board] to your TV is faulty. But before confirming it, just re-seat all the flat cable connections from it to LCD panel. You must have knowledge in electronics to proceed. Otherwise, seek help of any experienced service technician.

Cracked screen doesn't work

a cracked or damaged screen which is called a display panel if even available will cost more than the set did new, it is fatal which is why none of the companies list the part number in the service manual--sorry but if cracked etc time to save up and go buy another set.

LCD screens are extremely fragile and Plasma also to a lesser degree so some stores do offer insurance against this kind of damage.
