Did you mean serpentine belt? If so remove the and ensure all the pulleys are spinning free. A seize pulley such as A\C compressor or tensioner pulley can created more drag or friction making the belt hot and burn thus giving you the burning rubber smell.

SOURCE: BURNING SMELL FROM ENGINE, CAR WONT TURN, WYNING OF POWER STEERING BELTS, NO OIL IN CAR MAINTANCE OF THE BELTS, MAYBE THE TIMING BELT MY BE BURNT OUT

The whinng noise is due to p/steering pump cavitation eg. low oil, air in oil due to pump being worn out.

Check belt tension.

Nothing to do with timing belt.

SOURCE: smell burning rubber or plastic

the first thing to check is the catalytic converters get very hot .. you might have a plastic bag stuck to it, look under car to see if so ,you may have to live with it about a week or two till it burns off this happened to me !

Car heater blowing cold air and rubber burnning

If your heater is spraying a light mist through your vents it could be your heater coil. Mine did the same thing, smell rubber burning, then started a light mist through the vents. If you don't get that checked out, it could mess up your water pump and possibly your engine

Engine died burning smell

If the smell is like burning oil or really hot coolant. you may have killed the motor. If it smells like burning plastic ,look for shorthing wires around the exhaust manifold battery, alternator or place that a wire could be burnt. If a rubber smell check for belt failure.

My heater works but is blowing a burnt rubber smell out of vents in a 1995 cadillac deville??? anybody kno? heater core??

Your blower motor could be overheating, but that usually smells like a distinct plastic burning. I's day its more likely a problem under your hood. I'd start with the belt and pulleys. Just pop the hood and look around your belt. If you see bits of rubber you found your problem. It will probably be a belt, pulley and/or tensioner that needs replacing.

Hello
make sure that they check all of rubber materials that could be burning which is a number of things, The ac belt could be slipping and getting hot, other hoses could be burning on the exhaust, sound insulation or under coating on the bottom of the car. they need to do just a good thourough inspection, even raise the car up on the lift to make sure nothing is bent, broke, rubbing or missing. The loose hose clamp is not going to smell like burnt rubber, maybe antifreeze but not rubber simply tell them you would like these things checked out they should do that for you
Good luck

Check engine light + hot smell after driving only 20 miles

Make sure your alternator is not seizing up making the belt slip and get hot enough to smell of burned rubber.

A smell of burning rubber is coming from my engine. What is it? Could it be the timing belt? Is it safe to drive any distance? Thanks burning rubber smell from engine

A common cause of a smell like that is a coolant leak.Take a close look around the hoses, clamps, frost plugs and the water pump as it has a weep hole that will leek coolant if the seal is breached. Sometimes all you will see is a stain, but no coolant as small leeks boil away with the engines heat.
If a belt was burning it would be very noisy. The timing belt is cogged so slippage is unlikely. It is possible that a foreign object has gotten on the exhaust manifold like a plastic bag. One last thing I can think of is a wire or something touching a hot surface and melting. Good luck.

check and see if any of your hoses are touching any moving parts like the fan or pulleys or even the exhaust
