Battery on Sony Walkman NWZ-E436F

The player says 'LOW BATTERY - PLEASE CHARGE'
When i plug my player into the computer it connects an charges for 10 seconds then says full.
I then unplug the connection and turn the player on this then gives me the message
'LOW BATTERY - PLEASE CHARGE'
This is repeated everytime i try to charge the player.

Ok, just tried something with maybe a solution....

I was connected via an usb hub to my laptop, then it said battery is full, it apparently didn't charge.

When i connect my usb cable directly to my laptop it started to charge again!!.

My usb hub is not connected to a adapter so all power comes from the USB port, this may be not strong enough to charge your walkman.

Try this (so directly connect to your desk / laptop) it may work!

Even I had the same issue, I was trying to connect it to my assembled PC, the battery showed full though it was not...connected it to my laptop and it worked like a dream...as valhallen suggested connect the player directly to your PC or Laptop USB, do not use USB extension/Hub...Thanks valhallen

Ok, so my walkman (should we now use the non sexist term "walkperson" ?) will charge from the PC. But, I want to charge it from an AC mains driven powered USB hub when I am away from home and I do not have a a laptop. Since my Belkin 4-port hub used to supply all manner of devices, why not charge the walkman? Power rating of the hub is 7.5V, 2.1A. This is sufficient to melt a walkman, So forget all the superstition of low volts, insufficient current, too much resistance in leads. Regards,Ted

I was using a USB extension cable and had the exact same problem. I took out the extension and plugged it directly in. Problem solved. Guess there was too much resistance in the extension cable. Thanks all! jb

I think you are using a USB-Hub. Connect the player directly to the computers USB port. See the manuel on page 100 (English version)
