My Acer aspire aoa 150 will not charge. Its not the charger or battery It seems to be that little thing inside the computer that transfers it. Any idea as to how i may be able to fix that?

Hello.

If you wiggle the cable where it connects to the laptop and the power goes on and off, the power jack (inside the laptop) needs repair or replacement.

Hope this helps.

Hi i am having troubl with my power cord to where i have to wiggle it around to charge my laptop what does that mean

Hi,

The problem could in one of 2 places.

1st: check the adapter on the laptop itself. This part gets very hot causing dry solder points and also the pin can become loose. Check that.

2nd: get a multimeter and check the voltage output on the end as in most cases the wire inside the cord breaks causing a loss of connection thus not powering the laptop up.

If you have to wiggle the wire when its plugged in to the laptop the best place to start is at the laptop adapter.

Good luck.

Acer 5920-6864 ac plug only works when pulled to 1 side

Either the center pin on the dc plug or the small tension band inside the DC jack is loosing its spring, this spring action is what holds tension on the shaft of the pluug. The center pin that conducts the positive charge tends to break its solder point and therfore the chrge unless it is manipulated, the jack at this point needs to be replaced.

Charger is no longer working

Oh, believe it or not. My computer use to do the same thing all the time. Just take the prongs on the plugin and bend them outwards slowly. This will make a tighter fit in the outlet.

No power,not charging

Hi,

It is most likely that there was nothing wrong with the original adapter/charger. What I suspect is there could very well be a loose connection more aptly a cold solder among the pins of the power jack that is soldered to the motherboard. Normally, this jack would have two (2) pins and your description "...unless the cord was in a certain position..." indicates that one or both pins are not connecting right to the motherboard solder points.

It is relatively easy to resolder the said pins. What would be more challenging would be opening the laptop and exposing the motherboard's to be able to do solder work underneath.

Should you venture a DIY, then you would be needing a set of jeweler's screwdrivers and a soldering iron and a little lead. Should you be uncomfortable and unfamiliar with electronic works, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Once you get the pin repaired be sure and use some sort of cable stay or restraint so it doesn't happen again. . .

Here's something I recommend. . .
