Flashing "Washing" light on my frigidaire 1000 series dishwasher

I just worked the other day now when I press the start/cancel button to start the dishwasher all it does is flash the "washing" light...no water is coming into the unit. I've tried the breakers in the house, no luck. The unit is just over one year old...Any ideas? Thanks

I'm having the same problem. The wash light comes on and starts blinking, but the water doesn't come on.

I have the same problem mine worked yesturday jan 5-09 but today just the light is blinking and no water will run. Amy

I just had someone come look at my dishwasher (flashing light, won't run). It will cost $250 to replace the controls. It is only 2 years old! I might as well buy a new one for what it will cost me.

  • Anonymous Jan 07, 2009

Same problem here, my FDB1050RES won't start and the "washing" light keeps flashing. Luckily I have 1 day left on my factory warranty. I've had 3 new Frigidaire appliances do this, fall to **** just about at the end or after the end of the warranty. Last Frigidaire piece of **** I buy - don't make 'em like they used to.

Looking for the solution to this problem also. It just started out of the blue.

I have the same problem with the same model, just started today and it has worked for the past 2.5 years. Anyone got a good answer yet, or do we just need to buy a new machine?

light flashes when it is supposed to be washing

  • Nancy Jones Jan 20, 2012

I had the same problem. Followed the suggestion below and it worked. If looking at the picture below please take note that you have to pry the black tab out a bit to be able to pull the connector out. I had called Frigidaire first and they were unable to help me. Told me I needed to call a repair man.

Possible solution. I had the same problem of "washing" light flashing last year and now today. Warranty has been expired for awhile, so no harm in trying. What worked for my situation was removing the six screws for the back of the plastic control cover. Take of the plastic cover. There are are two connectors to the HANDLE with white and black wires. To be safe I would shut off the ciruit to the dishwasher. Safety first. Carefully disconnect and inspect the contacts inside the connectors. Do not insert any metal objects if you left the power on. I believe that the moisture from the dishwasher can degrade the connectivity. I cleaned the contacts with q-tips and re-installed. Be careful to not bend the contacts. If you had sound, you could hear my dishwasher running. Total cost is about three cents. I believe that the connectors do not full close when corroded, which prevents the completion of the circuit to the controlls. The flashing light indicates that the door is open, when in fact it is closed. Hopefully this will help someone. Semper Fi

Thank you SOOOO much. I did everything step-by-step as you have it listed and it works perfectly now. The only thing I couldn't figure out was how to disconnect the black and white cables to clean the connectors but sure enough somebody posted pictures of it a few hours ago. Thanks again!

Thank you sooo much my dishwasher is less than 3 yrs old and I didn't expect to have troubles with it just yet, but my washing light was flashing and I thought that I was going to have to have to come up with money that I didn't have, but because of this post my dishwasher is working. It was easy to do and took all of three minutes and a couple of Q-tips. Thanks for sharing I really appreciate it.

Thank you very much -- my door locking mechanism has akways been a little awkward and I must have been loosening the connectioin for a while. I removed the power, pushed the tab up a bit and the unit is working great.

No name 2's solution worked great for us so far. It took me while to figure out how to disconnect the two connectors, so I thought some pictures might help.Flashing _12.png

Thanks for posting pictures of how to disconnect the black and white cable connectors. I printed off no name 2's instructions last night and could figure everything out but that part. I was scared I would break something off permanentely. Fortunately I was able to clean the connectors off enough without removing them that the dishwasher works again. I came on here to thank him and, sure enough, you posted pictures of it last night. I'm glad i saw them in case I have to do this again. Thanks again for posting the pictures!

My switch was broken so I bypassed it with a jumper. My washer is too old to repair the switch so I bypassed it untill I can buy a new washer. Use two slide in connectors with the same size jumper wire. If you cannot get the right connectors then you can use twist on wire nuts. Dont do this untill you have tried to clean the contacts first.

Zanussi dishwasher ZDF601M 1 in 3 red light comes on and programme doesn't work through

26269906-aipk5px1bmfkdpsmrgevaqwn-3-0.jpg "3 in 1" function
This appliance is equipped with the "3 in 1" function, that
allows the use of the "3 in 1" combi detergent tablets.
This function can be selected with all washing programmes.
With the selection of this function the inflow of rinse aid and
salt from each respective supply container is automatically
deactivated and also the indicator lights for salt and rinse aid
are deactivated.
Select the "3 in 1" function before the set of a washing
programme.
Once this option is selected (indicator light illuminated) it will
remain active also for the following washing programmes.
With the use of the "3 in 1" function, the cycle durations may
change. In this case, in the digital display, the indication of the
running time of the programme is automatically updated.
NOTE: Once the programme is running, the "3 in 1" function
can NO longer be changed. If you want to exclude the "3 in 1"
function you have to cancel the programme setting (see
chapter "Starting a washing programme" - "Cancel a washing
programme in progress") and then deactivate the "3 in 1"
function.
In this case you have to set a washing programme (and
options) again.

Activation/deactivation of the "3 in 1" function
(The dishwasher must be switched off)

1. Press the On/Off button. The On/Off indicator light
illuminates (setting mode). If a programme button indicator light is on, this means that a washing programme is set. The programme must be cancelled: press simultaneously function buttons 2 and 3
for about 2 seconds. All the indicator lights will turn off (except for the On/Off indicator light and eventually salt and rinse aid indicator lights) indicating that the set programme has been cancelled and the machine is now in setting mode.

2. Press simultaneously function buttons 2 and 3, until the
indicator lights of function buttons 1, 2, 3 and 4 start
flashing.

3. Press function button 4, the indicator lights of function
buttons 1, 2 and 3 turn off while the indicator light of function
button 4 goes on flashing.

4. Press function button 4 again, the "3 in 1" indicator light
illuminates, indicating that the "3 in 1" function is active.
To deactivate the function press function button 4 again, the
indicator light turns off.

5. To memorise the operation, switch off the dishwasher by
pressing the On/Off button or wait about 60 seconds after
which the dishwasher will automatically return to setting
mode.

Kenmore elite dishwasher model 630 Smart Wash light is flashing

You may want to try:
Press a series of four buttons in quick succession. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal Wash," "Heated Dry" and "Normal Wash" to instruct your Kenmore dishwasher to run a short diagnostic test.
Wait for two minutes while your Kenmore dishwasher runs its diagnostic test.
Press the "Cancel/Drain" button once your dishwasher has completed its diagnostic test. This should reset your dishwasher control panel.
Check to make sure that there's no standing water in the bottom of your dishwasher. Standing water in your dishwasher may indicate that your dishwasher has stopped mid-cycle. You will need to press the "Cancel/Drain" button before you can reset your dishwasher control panel.

Clean button is flashing

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If the clean light flashes, pauses, and then repeats. When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it stops working and locks the functions (clean light flashes, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash

-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Frigidaire PLD4460REC Dishwasher will not start

This is very likely due to a bad main electronic control board but the only way to know for sure is to do some electrical testing with a volt/ohm meter and the wiring diagram located within the appliance. If possible use the meter and the wiring diagram to check input/output voltages looking for discrepancies between the diagram and the actual meter readings.

Try pressing heated wash, heated dry, then heated wash, heated dry. It should reset it. Also try pressing and holding the cancel button for 5 seconds to see if that works if the other doesnt.
