Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

Hi,

  1. Click start --> Control panel --> Printer and faxes
  2. Right click on printer 'C4200 series' and select 'Set as default printer'.
  3. Right click again on the same printer icon and select 'Use printer Online'.
  4. Try Printing.
  5. You can delete the icon that says 'C4200 series(copy1)' if you are not using it.

Hi, How did you remove the paper jam. You might have applied a lot of pressure while removing the paper jam and that might have damaged parts in the sensing unit. If the printer is fairly new, I would recommend you to take it to the manufacture's service center and get is checked thoroughly assuming that the printer is still covered under warranty. So you the warranty period and get a free check-up.
Cheers!

Hp photosmart C4200, paper was jammed, pulled it out of the front, I don't think there is a jam anymore, but the printer still says there is a jam

There may be a small piece of either paper or dust on the sensor. Using a can of compressed air blow out the full paper path. If you still have an issue after that you may need some servicing.

If the printer is under warranty do not do anything, call for service. If it is not under warranty carefully try using thin needle nosed pliers or forceps to reach in and remove the paper jammed inside.

Jammed paper in hp C4200 series

Open up the back of the printer. There should be a panel that comes off that gives you access to the paper feed mechanism.

Error code jam 2displays after removing paper jam. Samsung printer SCX 4100

Ross,

You have had several excellent solutions brought forward in your premium post, especially to look for little pieces of paper that interfere with the LED lights and the light sensor for that area that sends a paper clear or paper occupied signal to the printer.

When this type of issue arises it is normally after the normal term of life the engineers who designed the printer expect from the printer. Most all rollers have sleeve bearings on either end and these bushings become eccentric vs. round after a predictable amount of print jobs. When these holes do become eccentric one side of the roller turns slightly faster than the other that actually has difficulty keeping up with the other end of the roller. This will cause paper to feed at an angle through the paper path.

Ultimately this leads to a paper jam. Once you begin to have one jam, here and there, you eventually have jams more and more often. When this occurs and actually prior to this series of events, the printer has reached its end of life expectancy. This is a value expressed in pages printed per month or months of service where the engineers expect so many pages per day to be printed. This whole design and life expectancy is exactly the same for copiers and why Xerox, for example, has to come on site at the job or library and do a system overhaul. These overhauls are a replacement of bushings and belts used within the power train.

What this all means is that your printer is either outside its life expectancy and probably its warranty as well.

If you are still in warranty, don't mess around trying to find a band-aid fix for this problem and have it serviced under warranty. You'll receive a refurbished machine in return. This is the best way to proceed. If you are out of warranty and like the machine get a refurbished one.

So, to repeat:
a. Look for small pieces of paper that could be blocking the light sensors and sending a paper jam signal to the printers CPU.
b. If you are out of warranty get a new printer or refurbished one.
c. If you are in warranty get it replaced under warranty for a refurbished model.

Worldvet

Lexmark 5400 series paper jam

As several previous posts said there was a pieces of paper folded up inside. Per a previous post remove the sheet feeder rack. At this point I removed the two outside screws (of the three) on the backe. After this the whole top lifts about 3/4 inch (19mm) to give your fingers more room to clear it. Looks like she will print another day.

Thanks for the tips on here.
