Can you provide the model number. But you can check on your own, does the motor run if yes then the backing plate can you turn it by hand easily or it tight? Let me know and I will pull up a schematic and see if I can help

Check for string or build ups where the spindle come out of the housing, a little light oil at that point will help, 3-in 0ne is good, not to much, a little goes a long way

I am using the Porter Cable Quicksand Model 222 and the sander paper will not stay on the pad? What am I doing wrong...

first make sure you are using the right sandpaper for the tool and if it is hook and loop look at the pad for wear that will not allow the paper to adhere fully, if it is a PSA make sure the pad is not damaged.

Porter cable model 333 will not orbit and spins at a very high speed. I do not have a manual.

there is a belt from the motor to the pad that has apparently broken. Go to dewaltservicenet.com and you can download both the parts breakdown and the operators manual. If I have helped you would you please vote accordingly and thank you

I have a pts4 porter cable pneumatic sander that spins but stops on contact with a 100 grit pad or any pad that ive tried and this hapens even at the start before the compressor even kicks on. it didnt...

this unit takes 90 pounds per constant for desired function. Most machine shops have Huge compressors that will run these at a constant rate ,, also check the exhaust ( towards the vacuum hookup to check for clogs,, ) compressors that have a gauge that read 90 lbs doesn't necesarly mean they have the CFM to keep the pressure at what you need to keep it running

My Porter Cable 4" Belt

I would check both rollers for debris on them, also check the plate on the bottom for unusual wear, be careful for sharp edges and make sure the front of the plate is not worn excessively. Then I would turn the front roller without the belt on it to make sure not out of round and moving smoothly. Lastly if you are using directional belts make sure installed properly with the arrow pointing to the front of the sander. Let me know if you need more help before voting and I will see what I can do.

I have a porter cable 5" r.o.s. that is not orbiting. what is the most common resolution to this problem?

It could be the bearing in the eccentric. If you provide the model number I will see what I can do to exactly narrow it down. But you can try turning the pad by hand and should feel some resistance and the motor not turn, if it does I would think the bearing or something rubbing on the housing.

Porter Cable 7336 polisher - pad/backer plate will not begin to start without starting it by hand. Will changinging the brushes fix it?

The first thing to do is to make sure the unit is completely clean. Many of the contaminates that get airborne while you are sanding can and will affect the motor's performance with time. Pay particular attention to the brushes/commutator or any kind of centrifugal switch it may have.
