You will need the ip adress of the router and the user name and password enter ip adress in enternet browser it might ask for user name and password Then you would find a seting to protect it by a WEP password.

I've problem with my ADSL i can't access by wireless??? i don't know why???

Some DSL Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) Authentication to establish Internet connection with their end-users. This article will guide you in setting up the router's PPPoE feature.
NOTE: This article assumes that you already have the username and the password for your DSL Internet connection.

Step 1:
Access the router's web-based setup page. For instructions, click here

NOTE: If you're using a Mac, click here for instructions.

Step 2:
On the Setup tab, click the drop-down arrow for Internet Connection Type then, select PPPoE.

Cable modem internet works when directly plugged into desktop, but when run through the router, no connectivity

Most cable Internet Service Providers (ISP) use a Media Access Control (MAC) Authentication to establish Internet connections for end-users. A MAC address is a unique 48-bit (6-byte) integer that is attached to an Ethernet NIC for each computer. To set-up your Linksys router to a Cable ISP, you have to do MAC Cloning. MAC Cloning is a procedure which enables a router to copy the MAC address of the PC that's registered with the ISP.
To setup a Linksys router with Cable connection you need to perform five steps:
  1. Verifying Internet Connection
  2. Connecting the Devices Together
  3. Checking the Router's LEDs
  4. Configuring a Linksys Router for a Cable Connection
  5. Power Cycling
NOTE: Before proceeding, use the computer that can go online when connected to the modem and follow the steps below.
Verifying Internet Connection
Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your ISP. If it can go online, the PC connected to the modem is the one that's registered with the ISP.

kb4682-001_en.png NOTE: The image may vary depending on the computer and modem you're using.
Once an active Internet connection is established through the modem, connect the modem and the computer to the router by following the instructions below.
Connecting the Devices Together
After ensuring that you have an active Internet connection, connect the modem to the router's Internet port and the computer to any of the four Ethernet ports. For instructions, click here.
After connecting the devices, check the LEDs by following the instructions below.
Checking the Router's LEDs
The Linksys router's front panel will indicate the status of the connection. After connecting the broadband modem to the WAN or Internet port, the computer to an available numbered port and powering on the router check the lights on the front panel of the router. For instructions, click here.
After checking the router's LEDs, configure the router for cable Internet. For instructions, follow the steps below.

kb4682-002_en.png For Telstra Cable internet users, please contact Telstra to confirm if your internet connection is using DHCP or HB (Heart Beat) signal. There should be no other machine running HB client upon doing this procedure.
Step 1:
Access the router's web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.

NOTE
: If you are using Mac to access the router's web-based setup page, click here. If you forgot your IP address, click here. If you forgot your router's password, click here.

Step 2:

When the router's web-based setup page appears, click the drop-down arrow under the Internet Connection Type field and select Automatic Configuration - DHCP.
(a) If you are NOT using Telstra HB, proceed with DHCP setup.

NOTE: If you are a Telstra Cable internet user and you're using WRT120N, WRT160N v1, WRT320N or WRT610N, please select Telstra Cable.
(b) If you are using Telstra Cable, proceed with the following setup. Obtain your user name and password from Telstra. Please disable any HB client that might have been previously running on the PC after the router is configured.

Step 3:
Click kb4682-005_en.png.

Step 4:
Click MAC Address Clone.

Step 5:
Select Enabled and click Clone My PC's MAC.

kb4682-007_en.png

Step 6:

Click kb4682-012_en.png.

Step 7:
Click Status. Check the value of the Internet IP Address. If the Internet IP Address has numbers, this means the router has been properly configured. You should now be able to access the Internet. If you're not online, perform a power cycle to synchronize the router with the modem. For instructions, click here.

kb3687-006_en.png

NOTE:
If the Internet IP Address is all zeroes (0.0.0.0) click kb4682-008_en.png first then click kb4682-009_en.png. If the Internet IP Address is still all zeroes (0.0.0.0) perform a power cycle. For instructions, click here.
If the IP Address starts with 192.168.1.xxx or if it has the same first three numbers (octets) as the router's IP address, change the router's LAN IP address to a different LAN segment. For instructions, click here.
Once the router is configured, perform a power cycle. For instructions, follow the steps below.
Power Cycling

Step 1:
Shutdown the computer.

Step 2:

Unplug the router's power cable.

Step 3:

Unplug the Broadband modem's power cable and wait for 30 seconds.

Step 4:

Plug in the Broadband modem's power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.

Step 5:

Plug in the router's power cable once the modem's lights appear stable.

Step 6:

Power on the computer on and test the Internet connection.
NOTE: If you're not online after performing this procedure, you may need to upgrade the firmware of the router.

Zhone linksys router

hello!

-- who is your internet service provider
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router

i have read the same problem on the supportrix forum and you may try this and see if this help solve your problem. make sure your computer is directly connected to the router

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router and repeat the same steps.
note:
configuring the router settings will depends who is your provider. if your isp is dsl you need to configure your ISP username (email address format) and password on the router. if your router is a cable no need to change any settings on the router. it should automatically work

Dificulty in configuring wrtg4g

There are three major steps to setting up a wireless router.

First set up WAN side access to the internet. For this you need information about your internet service provider. Please respond with your internet service provider's name or better yet a link to their help/support website.

I assume you already have access to configure the router at 192.168.1.1 if not please do the following. Open Internet explorer and enter 192.168.1.1 where you would enter fixya.com and press enter -- do web pages appear in your screen from the wired computer. If so we have manual access to configure the router. If not let me know.

Please reply with a response to this message.

Second we will test wireless connections to the router

Third we will secure the tested wireless connections to the router.

This process will require interaction and several iterations of instructions to complete. Please add a comment to this request with the necessary information if you with to proceed in this fashion.

Internet connection provided by AOL DSL Plus

AOL DSL+ now uses PPPoE for authentication bypassing the client software. To set up your router: Step 1 Log into the web-based configuration of your router by opening a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape and enter the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1). Enter admin for username and then your password (blank by default). Configure the WAN side to use PPPoE. Please consult your manual for login instructions since all routers are not the same. Step 2 Enter your screen name followed by @aol.com for the user name. Enter your AOL password in the password box. Step 3 You will have to set the MTU to 1400. AOL DSL does not allow for anything higher than 1400. Step 4 Apply settings. Step 5 Unplug (turn off) the power to the modem and router. Wait 1 minute and then power on only the modem. Wait about 1 minute and then power on the router. NOTE: If you connect to the Internet with a different Internet service provider and want to use the AOL software, you can do that without configuring the router?s firewall settings. You need to configure the AOL software to connect using TCP/IP (LAN). Contact AOL for more specific configuration information of their software.
