Question about Brother HL-5240 Laser Printer

Brother 5240 dots on prints 3-3/4" apart

There are small oval dots repeating on the sheets spaced 3-3/4" apart. The dots are neat, symmetrical ovals about 1/8" wide and 1/16" high. I suspect there is something on the drum. I cannot find directions on how to clean the drum.

Black dots/blotches on the sides of printed sheets - whats is the cause and how t to fix it

If you have random blotches on both sides of the sheet, your printer probably needs cleaning, especially in the fuser section. If the fuser is difficult to get at, here's a good cheat developed for HP LaserJet 6 printers: Use a basic graphics program such as Microsoft Paint to draw three solid black rectangles about 2.5" top to bottom, going all the way across the paper (the space in between is not critical - the key is that you go as close to edge-to-edge as you can get). Print out this sheet.

Put the sheet back in the paper tray so it will print on the blank side (usually printed side up). Open up a quick text processor (Notepad in Windows). Type a single space, then print (some text editors won't print a document with no data in it). Dirt in the fuser will get stuck to the black areas on your cleaning sheet. Test your work by printing another copy of " ". Repeat with a new cleaning sheet if necessary.

3 dots along the left margin of paper, after replacing the drum

Open the MP tray and place a new sheet of A4 paper on it.

Press and Hold the Clear/Back button and also press and hold the Left Arrow. The display should change to 'Drum Cleaning'

Press the OK button and it should clean the drum and print a sheet with smudges where your dots used to be.

You may need to repeat the procedure a few times.

I have a brother hl-5240 printer and I am trying to print label where do I put the label? the printer paper red light comes whe I put the label sheet in the regular paper tray. I cannot find another place...

The label sheet needs to go in the front slot, if there isn't a slot on the front, then you grab the notches on each side of the front door and just open the feed tray.

My printer consistently prints black dots/blots on the left-side of the page (2-3 per page). What can I do to get rid of these dots?

Make sure the printer cartridge is not punctured or damaged. You can check this by taking out the cartride and look for ink spilled on it.

Little dots on right side of margin (Brother HL-5040)

I would have guessed the trouble shooting steps you first performed. It could still be a bad imaging drum. Or a fuser. Not sure if this model has a replaceable fuser or not.
