Question about Maytag PYE2300AY Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Takes 2 hours to dry an average size load

Air flow is good. The heating element comes on for about 1 minute and goes off for about 1 minute and continues this cycle, this is with NO load in the dryer (empty).

My LG front loading dryer doesn't dry well

Check the exhaust vent when running and be sure there is a good flow of air. You may have to clean the exhaust pipes all the way through. Dryers require a good flow of air for proper operation.

If you have an ohmmeter you can check it , check across the element connections. Have you cleaned the vents? If the air can't get out it could cause a problem . Also is the fan working ? Lint or something may be blocking it so it can't turn or slowing it down. You might check to be sure you have 220 volts to the dryer one side might be out and only have 110 volts. If you are getting some heat the element is not completly out. One other thing check with ohm meter from heating element connections to the heater box it may be grounded which might give you 110 volts. Hope this helps.

Dryer takes 2 hours to dry clothes/towels. Also there is no lint on the lint screen.

With dryers taking too long to dry this usually means you have a clogged vent or lack of air flow which is suffocating the dryer causing it to not heat to its full potential. Turn your dryer on and find out where it vents out to and see if the flow of air is strong. You may have a crimped dryer vent, or the exhaust flap where the air comes out could be stuck. Worst case scenario is your heating element has a wire burned in two causing it to partially heat but not enough to dry. You'll have to visually check for that by exposing the element and looking for a break in the wiring, but this is not a common thing. Check your air flow issue before you go looking for the problems with the element.

Good day,
Your right on the heating element.
If your positive the vent system to the outside is clean, then
Remove the front panel of the dryer, and inspect the blower wheel. If worn on the shaft(slipping), it needs replaced.
2. Remove the whole front panel to access the blower housing and the chute going to the lint filter. Clean as needed. (common problem).
3. If everything checks clean, then the thermostat that is mounted on top of the heating element canister is the most common problem but is only one of the thermostats.

Maytag uses a lot of air versus heat for drying. That is why it is important that part of the system is correct.

Dryer Heats for 30 Minutes then stops heating

Hello there :
what you are going to want to do is to troubleshoot the heating circuit
if you have a multimeter
there is a thermal Cut-Out switch that is connected to the heater box.) -simply unplug wires and take reading from the end connetors
your reading should be 0 ohms. and nothing else
Next check
a part called the Hi-Limit Thermostat that is connected to the heater box, it should be located closest to the heating element wire leads unplug the wires and take the reading across the 2 wire connections . this should give you a reading of 0 ohms and nothing else.
Now if any of these 2 parts are not in this range they need to be replaced and i would recommend that you replace them as a set cause if one usually goes out then the other one will soon follow ok

I hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Michael

Laundry not getting dry

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.

Vent
Heating element
Internal ductwork
Cycling thermostat
Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Long drying times model #11062712100

Try this and let me know what happens.
TIP OF THE DAY
To reduce the suction draft and drying time your drier and save some cash, remove the lint catcher and take it to the sink. Run water into it, if there is excessive pooling of the water (water not running straight through) then fabric softener is fouling the lint screen. Use a small brush and dish detergent to clean it and then shake off all the water and dry the screen. Remember this tip on future driers and you will make the dryer blower motor last much longer.

Takes almost 4 hours/timed cycles to dry 1 load of bedding/sheets

most of the time your complaint is the home owners house venting.run a load with the venting detached[it wont hurt a thing] if ok then must clean venting till dried as well as with out venting.if still long dry times first must make sure air ways in dryer are clean[should have good air flow at back if hand held there] and may need to remove front to clean lint filter area.and inspect blower ,making sure mounted to shaft and not worn in the center[blower key way, inside the hole where motor shaft goes thru blower]you dryer only has one element so if you have heat its heating.if you did all above and have problem still can be electronic[thermostats, timers etc........but i have fixed 1000s of dryers and their having problems are rarer.i hope that helps God bless ,tom
