Question about Gateway Profile 3 PC Desktop

Problem logging on to Gateway profile 3

When I try to log on I put in the user name and password, I get a message that "domain is not available" I cannot log on to use the computer. What should I do?

    I am not on a network, but I will try your suggestion when I get back to the computer and see if it works. Thanks.

It sounds like it is booting to a network... unless this is normal you need to change the order the computer boots.... f12 i believe is the right key to tap on as it is booting up.... have it boot directly to the hard drive... unless of course you require it to boot to a network

USER PROFILE WILL NOT LOAD


This is way too vague a problem description to be able to even make a suggestion.

What kind of Laptop?
What operating system?
Any problems getting to the login screen?
Are you able to log in, but not load the profile; or not log in at all?
Is this after starting a machine that was off, after logging off and back on, or when trying to switch users?
Are you logging on with a local account or a domain/network account?
How many profiles are on the PC?
How much space is available on the HDD?
Does it load a temporary profile, or just error-out?

  1. Log in as Administrator
  2. Rename PC – either with new PC ID, or by adding “A” to end of PC name
  3. Demote PC to a Workgroup, from the domain. Use the proper UserID and Password, as given to you by the System Administrator
  4. Restart
  5. Log in as Administrator
  6. Move PC back up to domain: na.proskauermain-domain.com. Use the proper UserID and Password, as given to you by the System Administrator again.
  7. Restart
  8. Log back in as User
  9. Restart and log back in as User a second time

How to get computer off a tempory profile

Every time that you log on to a Windows Vista-based computer that is connected to a domain, a temporary user profile is created.


When you log off the computer, the user profile is deleted.

This behavior usually occurs because the account that you use to log on to the computer is a member of one or more of the following groups:
•Guests
•Domain Guests

If this is a school/work computer then this is most likely the way the NetAdmin has set it up.

If this is your home computer then a temporary user profile is issued each time an error condition prevents the user's profile from loading.


You may encounter profile issues if you log on with a user in the Guests group.

You need to remove the user in question from the local Guests or "Domain guests" group and that should do it.

1. Click Start

2. Right click Computer and Select Manage

3. Select Local Users and Groups > Groups

4. Double click Guests

5. Check if the user that is having the issue is a member of the Guests group

6. If so, remove the user from the Guests group

7. Log off the workstation and log back on

8. Verify the profile is now local

The SID.bak subkey should contain a ProfileImagePath registry entry that points to the original profile folder of the user account that is experiencing the problem.

f. Exit Registry Editor.

g. Log off the system.

h. Log on to the system again.

After you log on to the system, the profile folder is re-created

1) Go to Start menu, expand "All Programs" - "Accessories" - "System Tools", right-click "Command Prompt" in the pop-up menu, select "Run as administrator", then input "SFC / SCANNOW" without quotation marks and press Enter.


2) When the "SFC / SCANNOW" command is running, this command will scan every corner of your system, and repair the missing or corrupted files.


2. Shift to another administrator user, if you don't have one, please create a new administrator account and log in.


3. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings folder, backup the data of your original corrupted profile, then delete the corrupted profile and all the temp profiles.


4. Open Registry Editor (type "Regedit" without quotation mark in the start menu blank and open it), search for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList, under the profileList subkey, delete the key named SID.bak.


5. Restart your computer; you will be able to log in the normal profile again.

My hp pavilion g series is loged on to a tempery profile so every time i log off everything is erased

When I try to log into a windows xp laptop i receive the message "The system cannot log you on now because the domain BEDFORD is not available". This is an old laptop that I inherited from a previous job...


This notebook has bees setup to login to a network, possibly it was a work notebook.
To login on the notebook and not the Domain (work network), click on the box below password where the domain name is displayed and then select "This computer" then enter your password.

Cause of user profile not loading


The question is:

What causes a user profile not to be loaded in Windows domain based network?

the answer is:
there are probably 3 broad reasons for this,
1. the user corrupted their profile somehow, such as shutting down without logging off (hard power off)
2. the connection to the domain was lost ungracefully, and offline information was not copied entirely, causing a mismatch of some encrypted profile data, (effectingly corrupting again) and preventing the logon.
3. an unknown event took place between the last time the user sucessfully logged on, and this time where the profile is now not loading. this could be hardware related (faulty Hard disk), RAM parity errors( bad memory), a change to the user profile SID details on the domain controller or other domain change.

Usually the cause is not so much a problem, unless it consistantly reoccurs.

Fixing it however, in XP is fairly easy.
with an account with domain admin rights, just navigate to the UNC path "\\computername\c$\documents and settings" - note the name of the folder/user affected, and just .old their profile folder.
example, username is Philip. - you see in their c:\documents and settings\ folder the folder called Philip, rename it to philip.old or something else.

You have to ensure this is done while the user is logged off, as files in this folder will be in use otherwise. potentially useful to reboot the computer before navigating to the profile folder.

I cannot log into my computer, how do i get into my computer


Click on More option in Login POP UP Windows. Select local computer instead of Domain and then type local amdinistrator user name & Password
to get into compoter. Once you login into laptop, check IP configuration in LAN Card setting. If needed remove computer from domain and rejoin it.

Switched to workgroup for my lenovo laptop - now can log in


are you loging in onto the network? if so you'll need the network user account name and logon

if you know the logon name and password make sure your logging in to the computer user profile not the networked one.

typically the user name is Administrator. 2 accounts are created admin and guest, though most the time Guest is not activated.

if your really outa luck Try a program called Ophcrack :]
either use it as a bootup disk or run it google it sourceforge!

Can't get past log on screen on HP laptop


press cortl+alt+del whneyou have the log on screen
click on option button at eh lower right corner, that will bring you;
login name
password
domain
change the domain to local computer,
login name =admin or administrator,
password= blank, or Admin or Administrator
