Question about Craftsman Table Saws

Craftsman 12 in. Compound Miter Saw w/Laser Trac stopped working

I let a friend borrow my Craftsman 12 in. Compound Miter Saw with Laser Trac and Twist Handle. I hadn'y used it a whole lot before so it wasn't like it had been overworked. He said It just stopped working for him while he was using it.. He said he'd checked a 'fuse' to no avail. I havn't got it back from him yet any suggestions on what may be wrong? I've had it for a few years and suspect it's out of warranty by now.

If you can provide the model number I can do some research. It could be quite a few things that went wrong. If you are comfortable in troubleshooting the tool let me know when you get it back and I will try and help

Hello stella....... There is a locking mechanism on the miter saw to lock it on whatever setting you require. loosen that locking mechanism and the saw should move for you. Here is a schematic of the parts so you can see exactly which parts are involved

Have craftsman 12 inch combination miter saw and need owners manu

I found a copy by going to the Sears Parts Direct website, then select the link on the right that says "View Manual". It will take you to the Manage My Home website, where you will find a button for "View Manual".

I would upload to Fixya, but I cannot get the Manual upload link to work.

My blade gaurd will not automatically rotate out of the way when lowering the blade to make a cut , Ridgid 12' compound miter saw

MS12502 has a solid arm actuation to move the blade guard, this is either bent, broken, unattached or otherwise not functional. sometimes the moving parts get full of sawdust and a major cleaning is all thats needed. generally all woodworking tools should be blown out with air after each use or end of day.

actual model number of your saw would be more helpful.
