Re: Jazz DV 179 USB cable connected to camera green light...
Try a different usb port in the computer also make sure the camera is on. Some camera models need the power turned on manually before they will connect some will turn on automatically. You can also try reinstalling the connection software(disc that came with camera) on the computer. Lastly you can right click on my computer go to properties select the Hardware tab then select Device Manager. Go to the bottom of the listed devices and click the plus on the left hand side next to Universal serial bus Controllers Remove all usb host controllers by right clicking on them individually and selecting uninstall. Be carefully with this if you have a USB MOUSE OR KEYBOARD because if you remove them before the others you will lock the computer. Regardless if you reboot windows will reinstall the drivers and you should be up and running fine. Any issue I message back.

Please make sure the camera is charged. Also try a different usb port in the computer. Usually in this instance the camera has to be fully charged or plugged into another power source. Depending if the camera can draw power from the usb or not.
Then use the step I just sent about. Right clicking on my computer selecting properties then device manager and hardware tab go to universal serial buss controllers remove them all and reboot the computer. This will refresh the drivers for the usb controllers and hopefully restore functionality to your camera
I believe that the camera will not charge directly from the computer - testing this theory myself... however I went to Radio Shack tonight and they have them there for 30 bucks (a bit outragious if you as me)
YOU PEOPLE IT IS JUST THE BATTERY THAT IS IN IT!.. BECAUSE THAT BATTERY IS NOT ONLY FOR AFTER IT IS CHARGED IT ALSO WORKS TO SHOW THE DISPLAY SCREEN! BECAUSE IF YOU TAKE OUT THE BATTERY THE LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE ITS PLUGGED INTO THE COMPUTER! MY BF IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM TRY BUYING A NEW BATTERY!! ITS THE SOLUTION! the battery is caput!
Well.. I have to plug in the charger that came with the dv-179. If I use my Phone (motorola usb) charger, or a USB cable (into the computer or a hub), all it does is light up the back red light (and not the front 'self timer' led) and does not charge the camera. So remember, if the back led lights up, you've got the wrong charger!
