Question about DVD/Blu-ray Drives
I have a Philips DVD R/RW Drive
DVD8801/96;9305 046 68096
SOURCE: SONY DVD RW AW-G170a
This is a problem with the DVD Writer model. SONY DVD RW AW-G170a has problems reading DVD+/- R/RW Discs. But there is no problem with any of the DVD+/- R/RW Dual Layer, DVD Ram or CD+/- R/RW Discs. It is the reason that this DVD Writer lacks the correct bitsetting for DVD+/- R/RW Discs. There is nothing else you could do other than replacing the wirter with some other model.

this isn,t a big task.
1:- cable 40 strand IDE Ribbon Cable to DVD Rom. If there is a secondary device such as hard-drive. view it,s jumper ( plastic Block) setting will be Master Or Slave. Setup your DVD To Opposite of Hard-Drive ( If applicable )
2:- 4 pin Molex plug power cable, Red-Blk-Blk-Yellow. Only goes in 1 way, usually yellow facing outside edge of case.
3:- turn on computer, drive should be detected, install device drivers via CD if requested by the system.
