Broken Door Lock Motor, part no longer available

I have a KitchenAid convection oven model KEBN107YBL0 which goes into CLEAN mode no matter what I set the controls on  - i.e. Bake, Roast, etc.  A repair Tech came out and said it's because the Door Lock motor is broken -- when you set it to CLEAN, the door does not lock and the "Lock" light on the door panel does not come on.  Unfortunately, the door lock motor, part #4367561 is no longer made and I've contacted several obsolete parts distributors with no success.  I thought I'd found it on the internet at A-1Appliance.com, but they just emailed me saying they'd made an error and they don't have the part either.  What can I do, aside from buying a new oven?  Someone suggested that I try to find someone who repairs small motors, but so far I have not succeeded in that, either.  I'm in the LA area.

Actually, I have more info. I just tested the CLEAN cycle and it worked just fine. The door locked after the temp got high enough. So the Tech's diagnosis that I need a new Door Lock Motor was incorrect. What IS the problem, though, is that no matter what mode the oven is in -- including OFF -- if I press the Start button it goes into CLEAN mode for 3 hours. (In the OFF position it does not actually start, it just displays the CLEAN symbol + 3:00 in the panel.) The oven was originally purchased in 93. Could it be a problem with the START button?

"if I press the Start button it goes into CLEAN mode for 3 hours."

There are several faults that can cause the oven to behave erratically and to get stuck in clean mode.

The more likely is a defective control board or a loss wiring, sometimes wiring and control board get damaged when the cleaning cycle takes too long, because of the high temperature.

Faulty keypad usually returns error message, but this is also possible.

A faulty sensor probe, even if this gives you normally an error message , the temp sensor should be tested with a multimeter.

I suggest to inspect wirings and board, and eventually test probe, that must return about 1100 ohms reading.

Then test and eventually replace the board.

All jobs must be done by qualified personell.

Well it goes into clean no matter what because the clean mechanisum leaver is stuck in that position,so its always telling the stove to clean.if you can get the repair man to move it so the clean micro switch is not depressed ,voltage will then pass to regular opperation.in Gods servive, tom

First I would check the thermal fuse and if it is a newer oven call KitchenAid. They should send a tech to replace the part for free as it is a well known problem with there ovens self cleaning feature burning the thermal fuse.

F5E1 or FSE1 error code DOOR LOCKED LATCH NOT OPERATING

On this double oven, each door has it's own latch mechanism that consists of a motor, a position switch, and the door switch used to activate the cavity lights. Because the error indicated a latch failure (and the bottom door was locked), Start by cycling the power to the unit. Each time the power is removed and then applied to these ovens, both latches will lock then unlock the doors to ensure they are in the home open position. By doing so, you might be able to get the bottom oven door opened allowing me access to the latch assembly. With the latch removed, I try to begin a clean cycle so you could watch the motor operate and you will probably find that it will start to turn, but never would rotate enough to lock the door. Since the position switch was not actuated at the end of the motor operation, the F5 E1 error was again displayed. Replace the motor assembly

My daughter-in-law just moved in to a newer home with a stainless steel Kitchen Aid ceramic top stove. It has a warming oven, a convect feature etc. However, with options etc. it is very confusing to...

Kitchen Aid manuals are available from their support site: http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=KAD . The model number is needed to locate the manual. For ranges, the plaque with the model number is inside the oven door.

The KitchenAid ovens that I know will turn off when you press Off (unless the control lock is on - then you need to disable the control lock). The Warming Drawer will have a separate Off button. Dual oven units require you to select which oven and then press off.

See http://www.kitchenaid.com/assets/pdfs/product/ZUSECARE/KESS907XSP_Use%20and%20Care_EN.pdf for a similar range. (ceramic glass cooktop, convection feature and warming drawer)

I hope this helps.

What does the sign "control lock" mean?

Here is what the manual for your oven says about control lock.

Let me know if you have questions.

Control Lock
The Control Lock shuts down the control panel pads to prevent
unintended use of the oven(s). The Control Lock will remain set
after a power failure, if set before the power failure. The only time
it is not available is during the Sabbath Mode or Self-Clean cycle.
When the control is locked, only the TIMER SET · START, TIMER
CANCEL, OVEN LIGHT and CANCEL OFF, UPPER OVEN
CANCEL / OFF or LOWER OVEN CANCEL / OFF pads will
function. On double oven models, CLOCK SET · START will also
function.
The Control Lock is preset unlocked, but can be locked.
To Lock/Unlock Control: Press and hold CONTROL LOCK for
about 3 seconds, until “CONTROL LOCK” and a picture of a lock
appear on the display. Repeat to unlock and remove “CONTROL
LOCK” from the display.

Frigidaire Electric oven model # GLEB27S7C

If you unplug the range and remove the lower rear cover on your left side you should see the motor with 2 switch's on it. There are 3 possibilitys with it. One of the switch's on the assembly is not working or the light switch for the door is not good. You also can disconect the lead to the motor and connect a power cord to it and that will unlock the door so you can check the dor switch also. if you do not feel comfortable powering up the lock motor then you should call a repair man. But one of the switches is not letting the computer know the dor is locked.
