Question about Toshiba 42HL196 42 in. LCD HDTV
I have a 42 " Toshiba 42HL196 TV that is 2 years old. I have started to get a faint dark line in the middle of the TV and another near the right side. It is visible on all inputs and cannot be fixed by adjusting picture settings or unplugging etc.Is there an easy fix for this problem as my TV is now off warranty and I do not want to dump a bunch of money into it. Is this a common problem?
any thoughts / advice would be greatly appreciated.
I had those too, and I sort of still have them. I found the best way to clear them up is to set your cable box to "stretch", so that it stretches non wide-screen (analog) broadcasts to the full length. Those lines show up at the transition from the picture to the black on 4:3 shows. The lines for me eventually became so faint they were barely visible.

Did you try unplugging everything and resetting your cable box. then plugging it back in,
i got some faint boxes yesterday and that did the trick
