A line(s) in the screen indicate dead pixels. A screen replacement is necessary and is fairly simple. There should be plenty of clips on youtube to show you how but be careful not to rip battery ribbons upon removal of the shell. You can find a screen for around $25 on eBay or CraigsList may have an advertisement to fix one for around $60. Good luck.

Your screen is broken. You can either buy a new iPod, or get a screen off www.ifixit.com

Verticle lines on nano ipod

Return it. The chip board under the display is crapped out. You got a lemon. I had this happen to me on a first generation ipod.

Sansa E200 screen stuck scribbly black vertical lines

When it is on, holding the power button in for 5 or more seconds hard resets the device. Give that a try. If not. it's possible it's been bounced one too many times and needs the LCD cable re-connected or the controller is bad for the LCD.

Lights up but doesn't display anything but horizontal lines

A few things to try... Get another ipod and back up (using the menu button) to the first menu list you can,( should show the Music, Movies, ect list) and then do the same to your broken ipod. Follow the good ipod with the broken ipod and open a song. (just to clarify, you are using the good ipod to know what to press in the broken ipod because you can't see the screen). Now use your headphones to see if it is playing. If it works, your LCD is dead or depixelated. A screen replacement is necessary. You can find one on eBay for around $25 or someone to do it for you possibly on Craigslist.
If this doesn't work and it doesn't sync right to your computer then *********** board may be the culprite. Unfortunately this is the second most expensive part to replace. If you don't want to deal with it sell it on eBay/craigslist and put the money towards a new one.

Black line on display screen.what to do? how to remove it?

Hi. This is definitly a hardware issue. It's either the LCD panel or even the Logic Board that needs replacing. It's not as expensive as it sounds and can be done in 24hrs. Email me for a quote - NoFix, No Fee!
