Question about Maytag MMV4205 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

4205 stops after a few seconds, beeps, every segment of every digit lights up.

I have a 9 month old MMV4205BAB, and it stops when running. It has been fairly good at cooking the first 7 months. Then one day, it would start 'cooking' normally and after 2 to 5 seconds, will give a 1 second 'beep' then all the display illuminates ( every segment of every digit) like 8's with an X in them. And the cook process stops. The Maytag 'Authorized' repair service has been out 2 times and keeps telling us the replacement parts are sabotaged, but the SAME PROBLEM is found. m

Re: 4205 stops after a few seconds, beeps, every segment...

Sabotaged??? What could they mean by that?? It could be a bad control panel or connection, but I would say you have a bad magnetron, the magnetron is mounted loosely, or the RF gasket (mesh washer) on the magnetron is missing, loose or damaged. I would contact MayTag and see if they have a different authorized servicer in your area, or get on the phone and complain to them in great detail. Do not put up with this, please.

2003 panasonic microwave runs about 23 seconds and shuts off no beeping just shuts off what could be the problem?

The problem is likely in the keypad control board and since the oven is 9 years old, I would look at reduce prices in the new models, especially when cost of repair comes in the picture.

Microwave oven mmv4205bab turns and runs but doesn't heat the food

There are a few possibilities, the magnetron is defective, or the high voltage capacitor or diode/or inverter board if microwave is under 7 years.

My Kenmore Elite over the range microwave model 85293 will only run for a few seconds and then it atuomatically stops and says F-9 on the display pad. It does not heat anything. What does F-9 mean?

Just had this happen - the repair guy says it is the inverter. And they have stopped making the part so it cannot be fixed!!! When did you buy your unit?

Sharp microwave 1200 watts keypad showing

Not a complete answer, but may help describe problem: Our R-510B should be the same except for color, and for several years it has intermittently messed up its display. The left side two segments on the units digit won't light up. So a digit 8, without the two vertical bars on the left, comes out as a letter E reversed left to right. Any digit that uses the two left segments (traditionally labelled segments E and F when talking about 7-segment displays) comes out wrong. Every thing else works fine. I can't tell if this is your problem.
This is almost surely a bad contact at the interface between the LCD display panel and the PC board: Typically there is a "squishy" conductive strip that connects them, and I expect grease has gotten in there. If so careful disassembly and cleaning with a mild solvent should fix it. Since we can live with it, and it usually fixes itself in a few weeks, I have not got around to taking it apart.

GE JVM1650 Microwave Suddenly Stops

Your magnetron tube is leaking RF energy inside and zapping the main board. It is NOT dangerous as any leakage will be contained inside the unit. You will need a new mag tube and it is covered by a 5 or 10 year parts warranty. Call GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737or schedule online at

Model 72180883400

F-9 error code indicates a defective control board, inverter or line voltage too high. f the microwave runs for about 7 seconds with a ticking sound..then stops and shows "F-9", it is the magnetron that has failed. The fact that the unit starts and runs with the TICKING SOUND means the control board is sending signal to inverter board and the inverter board is sending signal to magnetron. Magnetron is covered by full 5 year warranty, inverter board is only 3 years.

Shuts down after running about 8-9 seconds.

We'd need the full model number to be sure, but it sounds like an inverter failure. Due to the lethal voltages involved, I do not recommend that a person without training and experience ever work on these models. I would call Sears for service. See
