Where is breaker located in hitachi split ac

you didn`t told if it is already installed or just going to install.by the way,it has no breaker in it even on outdor unit,the only components that switching in it`s power are relays controled by electronic ckt the.installers of it,they just attaching the hot wire from your DB`s to the a/c switch(20 ampers,35 amperes) and going down to indoor units.your main distribution box has its own load schedule for it`s breaker attached in it.and not in your split type unit.the way of tracing it is look for the label opposite side of DB`s cover and it shows you where of those breakers are loaded by your a/c.

I believe I might need to change my (20 amp) breaker switch that is running on 10-2 wire which supplies power to my Rheem Classic 10 Seer. I'm not sure if I need to have 220V of power on a 30amp...

Hello, the unit runs on 220 volts that's why # 10 wire must be used. The best bet is to use a 40amp breaker for 220 volts, gives the circuit more protection.

I have a raka-037jaz air cond. I was wondering what size is this unit? And if my breaker keeps tripping for the outside condenser does that mean my compressor is workIng too hard and needs to be replaced?...

Hello You have a 3 ton unit with a 10 SEER rating.this unit should NEVER be on a 50 amp breaker.The breaker size is on the model plate/sticker....any way the compressor is shot and it is time to find a new 3 ton condensing unit.espescially if it is TRIPPING a 50 amp.Good luck

Just need to find out what max current during hot weather (Houston, Texas) will this unit require? If this is the only thing on the circuit is a 15 amp breaker enough? Thanks Bill

Unless this is a very small unit I would not use anything less than 20 amp. and then only if it is a newer unit with scroll type compressor.
I generally use 30 amp. as most unit of two ton cooling or more can draw 17-26 amp on start up. Hope this helps. I also would not use less than 10 gauge wire for supply. Thank you

Purchased "Reliance Lowboy electric water heater"

The water heater has two 4500 watt elements.
However both elements are not turned-ON at same time
So the water heater is 4500 Watts

Volts x Amps = watts
Amps =watts divided by volts
Amps = 4500 Watts divided by 240 Volts
Amps= 18.75

So that says a 20 amp breaker ... except for the 80% rule
80% rules says for safety, your Amp rating should be multiplied by 80%

20 amp breaker X 80% = 16 amps
20 amp breaker is actually safe for just 16 amps, and your water heater draws 18.75 amps.

The calculation shows you need a 30 Amp breaker.
30 Amp breaker requires 10 gauge wire.

It shows your model above. This is the only way to get a diagram for this unit. Please keep me posted on the out come or if you need more help.

Unit comes on and runs for 5 minutes, the circuit trips off

30 is the correct size breaker for this unit. It sounds like there is a grounding issue going on in the system. Or off of the Thermostat. Something is grounding out causing the switch to trip. Are you running #10 wire to breaker and the unit? If not you will need to increase your wire size
